we're also talking about berks county. the system is moving through, expected to bring snow to the area. other parts could see rain. nbc10's pamela as born is watching the roads this morning in storm force 10. pam. >> reporter: good morning, we're in allentown right now, and the snow is beginning to fall. i'm going to switch right here so you can get a look at the roadways this morning. again, you can see this light snow that's been falling down for probably the last five minutes or so. we took the northeast extension to get to allentown today. we saw penndot trucks pulled over on the side of the road. i imagine they're probably on the roads working right now. maybe putting down some salt. as i mentioned, as you can see for yourself, there are a few flakes falling near allentown this morning. also want to mention since we've been here, we've seen a few local side trucks in allentown as well. driving around, obviously, as you can see, no accumulation, nothing to clean up after, and plowing at the moment. but certainly, penn

berks county, chester county. the rain is catching up with radar, meaning it is making it to the surface. sometimes it picks up moisture higher in the sky not yet on the ground. this is starting to make it to the ground. seeing a steady pocket of rain in chester and berks county. also radar showing off a rain, snow mix. most of this just making it to the ground as rain, temperatures at the surface are a little too warm to support any frozen precipitation. we are seeing showers, that's for sure. limb rick and south into chester county and through delaware. that's where we have the most steady rain. cape may and stretching north to the border between pennsylvania and new jersey. those showers moving through. here's a look at temperatures. this is why i am saying it is just rain. areas like allentown, reading, upper 30s. millville, 41 degrees. it is a fairly mild start. the only area we may see issues is if you have travel plans and going through the poconos. the poconos sit on the cusp of freezing conditions. we wil

zooming in here, there's berks, there's lehigh. there's the snow coming in midnight tomorrow night and then into saturday morning, snow, this is kind of an icy mix, and as the atmosphere tries to warm from the south, there's going to be a bigger area of that icy mix, and that's what i'm more concerned about, but that's only a limited portion of the morning. by 10:30 allentown has warmed up already. and the poconos are getting the icy mix then. we're just talking about limited areas for a limited amount of time. the wider view, shows some of that wintry mix, possibly starting north delaware, or new jersey adjacent to philadelphia. and warm air is going to come in. there's that area of potential icing, but it's just brief because that warm air is moving in. and philadelphia is mostly rain because you'reing rain mast 7:00 a.m. and then it dries out. saturday evening is going to be night. another area of rain comes in and temperatures start to plunge during the afternoon because it sure isn't going to be showing sunday morning. 5:00 a.

we are issues a "first alert" for the lehigh valley for berks county north and best of the city, because we do have snow and rain that's going to move in later this morning. let's get to erika martin tracking it all. >> you know, rosemary, everything is really quiet. we don't see that rain in the area. nor that snow. mainly clouds developing. we do have that "first alert" that has been issued for lehigh valley, berks county, montgomery county. and hopefully, light snow for northwestern chester county. keep in mind, you'll have the slick surfaces especially untreated surfaces that you have to be mindful of and poor visibility. be sure you look at the bottom of your screen for your local neighborhood forecast. i want to go ahead with your hour-by-hour forecast starting at about 5:30, 6:00 a.m. you can see the snow already moving into the area. this will be short-lived. again, everything changing over by 11:00 a.m. here at 7:30 a.m., you can see for the most part, the entire lehigh valley will be seeing snow showers. a lot of it not sticking. you will have an issue there. but you there see

lehigh valley, berks county and suburbs. with that change over to rain as we move into tomorrow morning. a look at radar and satellite right now. we have snow falling throughout parts of central and west pennsylvania. this is actually stretching now on radar at least throughout parts of maryland. interesting thing is, i'm checking ground observations in this area. not everywhere under this patch of snow on radar. it's actually reporting snow at the surface meaning some might be trying to fall. it's so light it's not making it to the ground. i can tell you baltimore airport not seeing snow, although under this coverage. but we look a little further to the west and frederick they are reporting snow. this is starting to track our direction. i wouldn't be surprised if any western portions of our area and extending along to the north, that we do see flakes this morning. this is not the bulk of the system. this is that front of the moisture way ahead of the system itself. it is something we have to keep an eye on if you're getting

although the homicide happened in springfield and this homicide is in berk, the two are only about a mile away from each other. now, here's what we know about the two homicides so far, the first victim, the one from last night, is 22-year-old hanas dead inside his home suffering from some sort of trauma to the upper body. they didn't say exactly what killed him. the woman is 22, her name is kadet, simona. she died from some sort of trauma to the upper body. several similarities between the victims but beyond that police wouldn't say exactly why it is they think the two homicides are linked. >> we have almost all of our homicide teams, we have an investigator from the medical examiner's office and they have divided both teams to try to work diligently through details to find out, you know, what circumstances are surrounding this. that may be linking these cases and who could possibly be involved. >> reporter: now, at this point, police have no suspect information so they are asking for the public's he neighbors in either area who may have seen or heard something suspicious or simply h

we have issued a first alert for the lehigh valley, berks and suburbs. it's gotten colder overnight. we're seeing a rain/snow mix in the lehigh valley and berks. most of the suburbs seeing rain. farther north suburbs seeing a mix. this is not going to be causing too many problems. it will be awfully quick to end, too, between now and 6:00 if not before then. we're going to see it taper off and improving conditions. the light rain/snow mix that we're starting with won't last much longer, but if you're heading out right now you'll have to deal with some of these elements. we went on the air at 4:00. we saw steady snow in the camelback area. it's really lightened up. it's tapering off. that's the end of the snow there. for plymouth meeting, this is a steady rain falling. temperatures above freezing, well above freezing in plymouth meeting. there's still a chance that we could see some snowflakes mixing in in some of the suburbs. doppler radar, there's plymouth meeting. conshohocken, norristown steady along anderson road. that rain is not going to last very
