that's the storm heading towards bermuda.c and gabrielle formed more than a week ago. it formed over the last several days and actually dissipated. it was no longer a tropical storm. but gabrielle is back. it reformed. showers and thunderstorms started to organize and now it is a tropical storm system and it is heading towards bermuda. there are a number of warnings that have been issued. we want to focus on humberto because we have not had a hurricane so far this atlantic hurricane season. as we head into later today and early tomorrow morning we think humberto will be a category 1 hurricane and it is forecast to continue to strengthen. the good news is it is not forecast to hit anyone. it is going to stay over open water and eventually over the next several days dissipate. i want to look at the temperatures across the country because we have record-setting high temperatures forecast across sections of the midwest. today's high in chicago, 97 degrees. guess where the heat is headed today and tomorrow? to the northeast and mi

it will stay east of bermuda as well.nches of rain possible in the islands and as much as 15 inches of rain on the mountainous peaks. let's talk about how rare this season is. september, we have not seen a hurricane yet. we only have five seasons that we have done that so far. this is in the satellite air. if we go back to 1941 the latest we've ever gone without a hurricane has been september 16th and we could potentially break even that record. here is the interesting thing to note the average amount of hurricanes you have in a season is about six. even in the years where we went through september without a hurricane we still saw around the average number of hurricanes. they just got more compacted towards the end of the year so that's something we're still going to be concerned with. the hint of good news later in the season we typically do not hit the mainland. unfortunately it hasn't been a typical weather pattern lately so when watching the reason if we see anything form currently it would curve out to sea. we have t

it's like a bermuda triangle. dry all summer long and now the bay bridge and labor day and there is rain in the forecast. we did have showershis afternoon. move through the north bay from santa rosa to napa. it was hit and miss. that is the case tonight and tomorrow. not everybody will see the rain. as you look at the wider perspective from santa rosa and san francisco and san jose mostly dry conditions. but there are areas in the south bay that are seeing showers against the western-facing slopes. but in the big picture not a lot is happening. tonight as we get toward midnight and 1:00, 2:00 in the morning the marine layer will push back in. we are expecting cloudy skies -- mostly cloudy skies for most of the bay. at 5:00 or 6:00 tomorrow morning this is that thin sliver of shower activity. it will be very quick and move out very quickly. we're not going to see it stick around all day long. from 10:00 to noon it will push out of here. so again if you have outdoor plans tomorrow don't cancel them. we should be goo
