they spent nine months in bermuda, and when they came, they brought bermuda sea shells. like the scallop. that is quite large. clean conch shell here. another beautiful shell. they are collecting them like we would, as souvenirs of their voyage, but also if they get back to england, they can sell these two gentlemen who are collecting exotic objects from around the world. and speaking of exotic objects, in this bottle here, which probably held pharmaceuticals, medicinal substances, we actually found beetles. we had them analyze, and i actually have them in here. if you can see them. um, and they are strawberry root beetles. the first documented evidence of this beetle in the new world. we had other soil samples tested. we have located bed bugs. and powder post beetles. we know there were black rats brought in. all of these hitchhikers that the colonists were not bringing on purpose. we have the evidence of indian women in this time period being in the fort. and this is a needle made from the rib of a deer. if you look closely, it is decorated here. and these are the type

we also find quite a bit of limestone from bermuda that was used in the ships from bermuda as ballast. it was used architecturally once it arrived at the island. and oyster shell is another commonly found material at jamestown. they ate these oysters and subsequently used them to produce lyme for mortar and plaster. let's go on into our processing laboratory, our dry processing laboratory. here, i am sorting artifacts from the john smith well. these few ceramic shards are from one of the upper layers of the well. john smith in 1608 ordered the colonists to dig a well and in 1610, it was filled in as the colonists left jamestown. they had hoped to go back to england but they were met by a longboat in the chesapeake bay and ordered to turn around. the longboat belonged to lord delaware and announced his arrival. all the colonists came back and reoccupied james for. these ceramics were made in the period from about 1619 until about 1625. they were made by james ward. his kiln site was found here in the 1950's on the national park service property. these are some of his products. i am try

between bermuda and miami. lot of the computer models do show it moving to the west and then covering up towards the mid-atlantic over the weekend. i will actually show you the computer models, the spaghetti plots in my full accuweather forecast. in the meantime, we've got another system on the way tomorrow. water vapor showing here is joakim right here. and then there is low pressure over the gulf coast. and this will be streaming up, really pulled up towards us with the cold front tomorrow night. this can bring us very heavy rain. we need the rain, expected rain tomorrow night into wednesday morning. we're looking at a general 1-2 inches of rain. farther up to the northwest, central pennsylvania can get 4-6 inches of rain and this is welcome. in the past 48 days only two days with more than .1 of an inch of rain. september 10 close to five inches of rain. i'll talk more about how much rain to expect with the system, the timing and the weekend with tropical storm joakim coming up in the full accuweather foreca
