bermuda high, it kind of stays there, storms off to the east. that high pressure where is it located means the storm will move in one direction or another. that's kind of what we're watching here after we're talking about the storm impacting puerto rico. the official track of this continues to pull toward the north/northwest and then looks at this point like we're going to see some impacts across the eastern seaboard maybe even into the gulf. we have two main computer models. one of them pulls it across florida out into the gulf and then turns it towards the north. that will give us a second hit of the storm sometime middle part of next week. another one of our most reliable models curves it up along the coast. bottom line here, unfortunately, anywhere from florida all the way up through the carolinas, needs to watch this. best guess, dana, is a category three storm. that said, even strength forecasting is very difficult at this point we know conditions get more favorable for strengthening once it gets up into the bahamas. that's why we've got t

there is a high pressure back towards the atlantic, our bermuda high. that's the steering mechanism. that will continue to try to press dorian to the west, but we have our dip in the jet stream that could weaken that. and that could be the potential for a different change in track here for dorian, as we move into our sunday and tuesday. now, most of our models are hinting that it will still come in contact with florida, the eastern seaboard there, and continue in a northerly fashion, and as it does make landfall it will slow down. in fact, impacts we are seeing across the bahamas, rough surf, rip currents and the rain will be coming on the way. here across florida through georgia, we will be talking about high risk for life and property, especially in places like melbourne, west palm beach. we want to keep you alert and make sure you're preparing as we continue into your saturday through your thursday. liz: i'm so sorry about that. thank you for your report. really appreciate it. to ellison barber on the ground in florida. reporter: we are at a home dep

it's all being guided by an area of high pressure up here by bermuda. if it's a little strong, it sends it straight into areas of south florida and central florida. if it's weaker, the storm stalls and then it can curve and turn. and that's kind of been the trend as we've gone throughout the day today. a little bit of a weaker high, as that allows the storm to stall and then kind of make a drifting trend. as it drifts as a hurricane 4 along the east coast of central florida, that's horrendous. that's like worst-case scenario for them. but if we can kick it just a little bit more offshore, say wl like, what this commuter model does, then it will just be a glancing blow. but you'll notice the majority are either on the show or right along te coahe coast, from vero beach, palm bay, down towards indian river, and up here towards the space coast, flagler county, daytona beach areas, and jacksonville. and now we've added charleston in there, too. we haven't ruled out the possibility of a direct hit up here. these are our two computer models. this is the ameri
