first, bernadette woods? >>> the reason we need to get to it. some of the thunderstorms are moving their way through the state and we don't want to mess with them. southern part of the eastern shore and up into delaware. several counties until 5:15. look at this line of thunderstorms. it's moving so quickly at 40 to 45 miles per hour. the thunderstorms alone have 45 miles per hour winds associated with it. berlin, it's picking up and ocean city, it will be moving in. we'll take this further to the south and show you the same trend here. snow hill, it will be letting up and we're not finished yet. in addition to this. we have thunderstorms hanging behind this and not the weather we're seeing with the winds. in, as far as the watches and warnings. we have the warnings in affect. worcester, somerset until 5:15 and we have a flash flood warning for cecil county until 8:00 and for the rest of us, severe thunderstorm watch until 9:00. that's just part of the story. where they've gone through, we've seen problems. >>> well, you talked about what's hatc

let's check in with bernadette woods. >>> pretty nice weekend. a lot of fishing at the beaches.f you are out there, be careful. >> as far as the weather goes, a lot of people did get a chance to go to the beaches and the weather held off for most but there's a front coming. i want to show you the radar. most of the activity has been off to the north. it has fizzled out east of haggard town. we could have an isolated shower before it does clear the state. let's take you back a few hours. the clouds started to thicken and a haze returning to the air. we hadn't seen that for sometime here in the area even though we are in july. here is a larger picture. the front extends back. that is why we still have the chance. it is not until it clears that we can get into the dryer air behind it. it is going to return on top of us already tomorrow. winds are out of the south ahead of the front and that is really pumped out the moisture. dew points in the upper 60s. it feels a little muggy which is more typical for july. temperature wise we are in the 70s, and 75 in baltimore and 76 in haggardt

meteorologist tim williams and bernadette woods are updating the numbers from first warning weather. we will start over with bernadette. >> a difficult word there, meteorologist. >> let me say it one more time, meteorologist. >> you got it. you got it down. weather-wise, it is gorgeous outside. as mary was just saying, we want to show you the numbers we are dealing with. all over the state starting to warm up, 80 degrees in baltimore. a lot of 70s still out there, but notice the dew points are in the low 50s. that is why it feels so refreshing still. the humidity is incredibly low. but as we head toward tomorrow, a new front moving our way. for more on that, here is tim. >> as bernadette just mentioned that front is moving in our direction. we had that one lingered to the south for the weekend, but it was the dividing line between rain to our south that never allowed it to move into our region, but one coming from the north. first warning live doppler radar show it is coming through pretty dry. what is going to happen, while we have in our forecast a chance for showers, especially in

bernadette woods, bob turk are updating the forecast. >> doesn't look that positive for more rain. by 9:00 last night we saw rain, now 85. activity moved to the north. the only thing around the city bs not much at all, down to the west and southwest, there is rain across southern pennsylvania. southwest pa, one thundershower moved through chester county. few thundershowers. some of these will continue to move to the north, west of us i think we have a better chance in the mountain regions. the city is quiet down to virginia , there is no rain headed in our direction, still the chance because we have the humid air mass around of something popping up. keeping the forecast longer. speaking of rain, bernadette woods joins me with a look at the rainfall numbers. >> reporter: this has been a swinging type of year in the sense that we were so dry and so wet, now we've dried out once again. i want to show you for this month alone we were already over 2 inches below, that's since july. we are above but our surplus dropped to below 2 inches unless we can get rain we will see the numbers drop

let's check in with meteorologist bernadette woods. what's gonna happen, bern? >> so far so good. you see a lot of boats out there enjoying the day, but the clouds are thickening. nothing in the state so far. we still after few hours, but take a look just off to the west. this is the rain approaching us. the storm is generally going to take somewhat of a southern track, cutting through virginia, but close enough that we do expect rain to arrive late overnight into tomorrow. we think it should hold off for the fireworks, unless you're in extreme western parts of the state. could be a little bit more iffy there. we have a couple hours to go, so looks like the timing will hold off. >> gonna be close. thanksp bern. >>> the three-day holiday weekend, while fun, could also we dangerous, as drinking and driving has many deadly consequences. police are out in force trying to make sure you get home safely. >> reporter: the countdown is on to what's touted as one of the biggest fireworks shows in the nation. and city police are making sure everyone stays safe. >> we have 480 closed-circuit

more on that coming up. >>> i'm bernadette woods. after a round of showers and thunderstorms today, we are not quite finished with them. we will have that forecast coming up when eyewitness news returns. >> we just got new information from police so we want to update the breaking news. a mass shooting we told you about in the top of the newscast. baltimore city police have confirmed a total of 12 people have been shot tonight. it happened during a party in the 2600 block of ash land. now one of the victims was apparently a two-year-old girl. luckily, she only suffered gunshot wound to her arm. those injuries not life threatening. also a 23-year-old pregnant woman was shot in the leg. all of the victims are believed to be able to survive their injuries. tonight police are still searching for suspects in the shooting, not reporting any arrests at this time. >>> in other news, eight people are dead in new york state, including four young cousins, after a wrong way crash on the highway. police say a family's minivan was going in the wron

but first, meteorologist bernadette woods is in the outback with a look at the outback if you're headed to the ocean. bernadette? >> that's right. if you are headed to the ocean, this is what we are looking for. tomorrow, another great one. 81 degrees on friday. start to warm it up as we head toward the weekend. and also a front going to be approaching the area. so sometime saturday night into sunday, we'll see the front come through with a chance of thunderstorms back here at home, if you're going to be staying in the city tomorrow, this is what we expect. a school morning. temperatures starting out in the 50s. and the record tomorrow morning is 54 degrees. we'll be explos to that. as we head through the afternoon, sunshine mixing with clouds. and eventually only topping out in the low 80s. for the rest of the five-day forecast, here's bob. >>> doesn't look like really until saturday night, when it gets sticky again, that you really feel summer weather. >>> could see 90s some spots. but increasing clouds. by nighttime, chance of some of those scattered showers late saturday into sunday

meteorologist bernadette woods and bob turk are updating the forecast. bob? >> reporter: okay. we're going to take this one from here. want to show you first warning doppler radar. it's the first part of this. it's dry around here. temperatures still pretty comfortable. humidity starting to rise. but when we open it up, we'll show you out to the west, that that's the next front moving our way. and we are setting up for a little wetter of a pattern over the next few days. this front is going to move if tomorrow with a chance for thunderstorms. then it's going to stall out. and there's a few different chances as we head through the weekend here. the other thing going on is it's going to warm us up. temperatures started to climb up today. and take a look at some of the warmth down to our west. we'll tap into that. we're not going to get as hot as you're seeing. close to 90 degrees tomorrow. the one thing that is different, though, is it's not going to linger. by the end of the weekend, we are already back down into the cool air behind the front. we will have that forecast coming u

. >>> lets's check with with bernadette woods right now. >> we have gotten a couple of calls. there's a lot going on out there. pretty strong thunderstorm just to the north of frederick. we have to see how they hold together. we will have that forecast when >>> we do have some thunderstorms making their way through the state right now. we thought most of them would hold off to the west. it's going to continue off to the east until we lose the heating of the day. some of this is alts going to clip western maryland as we head through the evening and overnight hours. as far as this line goes, we are seeing some strong thunderstorms along it. this is a pretty hefty thunderstorm. it's not very organized, but there is the potential for some hail with it where you see this purple popping up. also, the southern part here right around frederick we're seeing purple that's been going up and down. potential some hail with this thunderstorm as it passes by. that's something we will be keeping an eye on. if any warnings come out, we'll be here to let you know about it. earlier today we had

let's check in with bernadette woods. still some storms out there? >> there are still some. let's get to first warning doppler radar. we will update you on the situation going on. this is the initial line that brought us the problems, brought some hail as it moved through carol county and making its way over to delaware. on the southern side, still hanging in maryland. we'll be moving toward salisbury in the next hour. we're going show you behind that initial line, there's heavy rains coming through. we are getting the batches of rain. they are moving off to the northeast fairly slowly. not all that quickly. that is the same pattern we are seeing out to the west. all of these storms are moving off to the northeast. that's more where they came from. it the front is still going to last until tomorrow. we'll have the forecast coming up shortly. >>> as the storms have rolled across the state, we have a number of power outages. just under a thousand at this hour in baltimore county. stay with eyewitness news for complete coverage, updated forecast and power outages in your area.

and bernadette woods has the updated numbers. >> well it is muggier than it has been and the funny thing is that this is more normal for july but it feels extreme because we have been dry. the dry air played against us. most of the action stayed off shore along the coast. you can see more of the storms are popping up some will move we may see a shower before the night is through. we have another chance coming up with a new storm. that's coming up in the forecast. >> let's check on the roads. >>> well our biggest problem is actually in the clearing stages. that's an accident on the west side. it was on the inner loop. it is on the shoulder in the clearing stages. you are looking at a backup. look for a crash. that is going to be at then we have three accidents in the city. two of them with pedestrians. the first is at west prat and they are cordelia and north monroe. and towned wires are an issue. there is a live look at that delay on the west side. it should be clearing up. it was because of an accident that is now in the clearing stages. this is brought by -- by the department of maryla

meteorologist bernadette woods and bob turk have the updated numbers. >> some of those clouds have produced widely scattered showers and thundershowers. there you see, about three or four of them out there. the first, east of the city now, approaching you folks, just north of chest tertown. -- chestertown. another little batch. this is stronger south of saint michael's. it's moving off to the east right now. you folks down there, they see that storm. there you go, headed right for trappa. route 50. another batch around central delaware. probably looks like it will stay that way. we have pretty clear skies. and rather dry conditions. speaking of dry conditions. it has been extremely dry the last couple weeks. despite all of the rain we saw earlier this year. bernadette has updated numbers. >>> we started out so dry. then got so incredibly wet. we want to update you on the numbers now. as we've taken you through june, we've rounded out the month, nearly four inches above for the year on our rainfall total. but as we have moved into july now, some of the numbers are starting to change a little
