cnn's camilla bernal joining me now.ith this brand-new video released to cnn showing a s.w.a.t. team there arriving at the motel where the suspect was hiding out and they were able to rescue the woman who was kidnapped. walk us through this incredible rescue. >> yes, so when authorities arrived to that motel, they were able to arrest joseph beacher and they say he had an ar-15 and a handgun. so thankfully the woman that he had kidnapped was okay, and she was able to go back home to her family. but let's start from the beginning. authorities say this began on wednesday at around 10:15 in the morning. surveillance video showed beacher arriving to the ranch belonging to the bloombergs and he got out of his truck, assessing the front gate. then he got back into his truck and rammed it through that gate. was able to get inside the ranch and that's when he found this employee that is not being named in many of the documents we've been going through. but once inside, those documents say that this man began to ask the employee w

cnn's camilla bernal looks at the multiple agencies tasked with protecting the biggest game in sports so many fans here in l.a. and also for the many businesses around the area, especially the ones that have had a very hard time during the pandemic. but it is not going to be easy for law enforcement, because we're talking about almost 100,000 people that are expected here for the super bowl. and the federal government has been working with local law enforcement agencies for about a year now, to make sure that things run smoothly. we're expecting hundreds and possibly thousands of men and women in law enforcement both on the ground and in the air. one of the things that they're going to specifically be looking at is traffic patterns, especially because we know there is that possibility of these trucker protests here in los angeles. the government also saying that this is, of course, a target for terrorism, but they say that at the moment, there are no credible threats. they feel like they have everything under control for this super bowl weekend. now, on a much, much lighter note, this

cnn's camilla bernal is live in los angeles.the middle of this investigation as we speak. you can even see a part of that helicopter here behind me. i'm going to step out of the way so that you can see a better picture of what's going on here. what we're seeing is both ntsb personnel and members of the orange county sheriff's office, you're seeing those divers there. well, the sheriff's office has a team of accident reconstruction and so that's what you're seeing. we also believe they are trying to maybe put a harness around that helicopter to pull it out of the water. the crane is here and the divers are coming in and out. now according to the chief of police in huntington beach, he says they just do not know why or how this happened. but as a result of this, what they're doing is pulling all of the helicopters out of the air as they conduct this investigation and figure out exactly why this helicopter went down. according to police, it happened around 6:30 p.m. last night. we know two officers were in this helicopter respondin

we do also have our correspondent camila bernal in los angeles. super bowl is on sunday. what is the potential impact? >> reporter: well, look, i think there are two things that authorities are really looking at right now. and that's traffic and the potential for counterprotests. los angeles traffic jam is already horrible. so when you add in the visitors and super bowl sunday and then you possibly have a convoy of truckers, i mean, it could be a recipe for disaster for things like emergency services, for example. it wouldn't just impact people coming to the super bowl, but really the entire city as a whole. and then the other aspect of all of this is the possible counterprotests. people are extremely passionate about these issues and here you will find people on both sides of the issue. so the idea is to not let that escalate. dhs is sending about 500 people here for super bowl weekend. and they're working with the local agencies here, that's been going on for about a year, hoping that things run smoothly. but once the super bowl is over, dhs is saying these protests wil

cnn's camilla bernal joins me now with more.into a phase where we will live with the virus. how? >> reporter: hey, pam, so california is adapting. that's what the governor said. that's how california will do it. he says at this point they've realized there is no such thing as an end to this pandemic, so he says instead you have to live with the virus and have to come up with a plan. so the plan they came up with still includes testing. it still includes vaccinating people, but at the same time it also includes pulling back on some of these restrictions including a mask mandate, which has been lifted in the state of california. now, the thing is that it's now up to the local government. so in los angeles, for example, you still have to have a mask if you're going indoor. the school district says the children, they can take it off if they're outside, but once they're in the classroom, they have to keep it on. so the thing is a lot of people still agree with keeping all of these measures in place, but you also have a big number of
