for bernie sanders. sanders condemned the attack across the board. what are your thoughts? >> i was sickened and saddened and do not echo the senator's comments on the senate floor. i am at a unique position from iowa, i can from this morning he was not one of our paid staff, we had 10,000 volunteers and could have been a volunteer by all means. what i have seen doing politics for 26 years is over the last 5, 8, 10 years things have gotten worse than i have ever seen them. i go back to running campaigns in east texas as a young man in the problem is a lot of people on the far left in the far right taking a lot of money by putting a lot of derogatory stuff out there. this is a prime example. there can become sequences to that. i was with a congressman who broke down in tears talking about his republican colleagues. we need to see more of that. the end of the day we are all americans and this should never happen. heather: not just democrat and republican congressional leaders. we are all americans, all of u

you co-chaired the state of bernie sanders presidential run, and many people were pushing for you torena, and you immediate it official this week that you, ben jealous, are a candidate for governor. tell us why. >> yes. right now we look at our federal government, and every single branch is controlled by far right ring extremist. and in these times we have to decide that quite frankly, all the power that's been transferred to our states over the rise of state's rights the last 50 years, we need to stop complaining about it and embrace it for the power and the freedom that it gives us to move our states forward no matter what's happening in washington. in our state, we have a gernor who on the one hand opposed president trump. but then as a republican, has lined right up. as soon as trump became president, he just went silent. similarly, we've seen sessions come in, and begin actually rolling back the clock on criminal justice reform, and our governor has quietly signed up for it. >> sessions actually said he wanted to see a delay in the consent decree in baltimore that came out of th
