bernie sanders tonight, what would you be advising bernie sanders to do as we go into this third debate? >> well, one thing i would advise him to do is probably not listen to anything i tell him, but i don't think i have to do that. one of the appeals of bernie sanders is he's been on the scene for a long time. people who support him know what he stands for. he's been saying basically the same things for 30, 40 years. his message of essentially just shrinking economic inequality, sort of just the wealth gap, if you will, has been something that is something everyone can rely on. joe biden in the same way has a very durable base. he has a lot of good will from tro dishls or working class white voters, a lot of frrk voters. that's goings to carry the day for a long time early on. if you look at elizabeth warren, she's building support and gaining newer support whereas the other two have sort of a historic base to draw on. bernie sanders, i'm guessing, again this is just prognostication, is going to be who he's always been. i don't think he's a candidate who is going to come out with any g

now she's overtaken bernie sanders with this core piece of his constituency. e is taking slices of the sanders' coalition. now joe biden continues to own the 65 and over vote. the senior citizens in iowa, look at this, running away. joe biden gets 35% of them. elizabeth warren at 12%. nobody else in double digits. so that maintains as a real strength for biden. and idealogically, i think this story is going to define everything for the next 135 days. among people who identify as liberal democrats, warren is at 34%. biden's at 11%. it's the complete opposite when you look at the column that says folks who identify as moderate or conservative democrats. biden there is at 31%. warren's down to 10. that's the ideological divide between these two that are in this two-point race. >> fascinating. but when it comes to enthusiasm among democratic caucusgoers, we are looking at numbers there. and what voters see as the most important quality for the winner of iowa caucuses. >> you know, alex, enthusiasm is everything, especially in an organizing state like iowa where you
