topper shut and howard bernstein are tracking the storms. we'll go to them in a minute. >>> breaking news out of chevy chase, maryland. there is a report of a possible electrocution at a house on connecticut avenue. joining us right now is pete der derrininger. >> reporter: about 4:30 we received the call. we've been having torrential rains throughout the day. heavy rain come down. occupant came home and found an adult and child in the basement, both unconscious, presumably electrocuted. there was a sump pump nearby. the basement of the house was saturated with water, did have a stairwell adjacent to where they were found that was full of water. there was a sump pump that appeared to be used. we believe that somehow or another the sump pump may have electrified the water, conducted the electricity and shocked them, maybe electrocuted them. they were found unconscious. cpr was initiated by first arriving firefighters when they got on the scene a few minutes later and they were immediately transported to local hospital. an adult female and a c

bernstein will dissect now. >> loudoun county through howard county right now, we'll show you this monster from leesburg through germantown, columbia, baltimore and a ton of lightning. leesburg with rainfall rate in excess of 4 to 5 inches an hour and flood warnings in western maryland and baltimore. around leesburg, the really dark reds there, poodleville and all this light -- poolesville and all this lightning. some of the hail reports earlier from the radar in the 2 to 3-inch category. you can trim that back a little so that when topper is talking about golf ball size hail that we're looking at in this system here, this is headed toward german up to potentially with large hail in excess of maybe 2 inches. that's one thing. we're also looking from gaithersburg to rockville to olney with lightning and from dayton to ellicott city not only heavy rain but a ton of lightning. the whole thing is moving more southeast than east, silver spring and college park and after 7:00 in bowie. it does look like most of the metro will have to deal with severe weather the next hour or two. >> probably by

first alert meteorologist howard bernstein tracking how hot it is going to get. howard? >> tuesday could be the day we set the records at 98 and 96. and that's the one day that somebody might get to triple digits. but today certainly warm up. 94. right now temps still in the 80s and the 90s. cooling to 92 here in washington with that 93 in college park. several other areas have fallen in to the upper 80s, which is kind of humid. but relatively quiet as opposed to yesterday's big damaging storms with all the rain. not much going on as we've got some showers and storms in pennsylvania. one severe thunderstorm watch box off in southern west virginia. we had some isolated showers that had popped up during the 5:00 hour. in places like culpeper, and they had moved across here. that's it, they fell apart, so there is not much left as we will track this stuff to see if they could get towards maybe some parts of the valley by 8:00. your evening if you're going out, not too bad. warm, upper 80s at 8:00. down to the 70s by midnight. i'll be back in a few minutes talking about that
