headed north 680 past the area at berryessa a crash is blocking your three left lanes. only your right lane is open there. one lane for 680, one lane for 101. tough drive getting out of san jose. we zoom out and put on the radar and see the radar activity that kari is tracking, wet roadways in the area and northbound 280 and 11th there's a crash that hasn't cleared as you pass by the downtown exits. that's a awe tough alternate as well. king road might be a good one. bob redell has been out there since early this morning. what is the latest? >> reporter: mike, they had to re-shut down all of northbound 101. they just reopened that, to help deal with the accident scene behind me. the backup is probably going to get worse. they have one lane open, it's because of this accident right here. this is a box truck that overturned around 3:45 this morning. sadly, one person was killed in this accident. chp tells us the driver, they were able to get the driver out. he was able to talk to them and say he fell asleep. when he fell asleep, he drifted off the road, crashed. his passe

this is over at berryessa. they're clearing up the second of the two vehicles that we saw remaining in lanes. the tow truck's positioning and they're hopefully going to clear the remaining vehicle, which is obviously facing the wrong direction. wet roadways here. no major injuries here. back out to the maps, talking about both of these freeways which take you away from north 101, a major congestion point for the south bay. north 280 a crash, quite a spectacle until a tow truck arrive. calmer, slow toward 87, your alternate to get out of the backup. the whole section of the south bay, san jose, really a problem, and people hearing about it, knowing the roadways, they're taking 85 over toward 87 so that one small problem, and then another, i should say big problem and bigger area and ripples out toward this area coming in from alamdin county and combined with rain in the area as well, plan on a tough drive for that section. southbound 17 in that area, we had a tree down, one lane is now open south past the summit
