some of those insurers don't want to carry them anymore and as bertha coombs reports that could have implications for those who get their health insurance on exchanges. >>> judging from intishl 2016 rate requests, customers could be in for major sticker shock next fall and fewer lower cost options. insurers are asking for sharp price increases after seeing big losses on exchanges the last two years. in washington state the average increase request is 13.5%. in oregon, the two biggest insurers want 30% increases. in new york on average, it's 17%. and in virginia, 23%. it's said insurers are being more cautious for 2017 because some aca reinsurance provisions for backed up losses will expire. >> the health risk on exchange has not been very good. there has been a lot of adverse selection. some of the sickest members are buying insurance, if you will, on the way to the hospital and after paying premiums only for one to three months, they then disenroll off of the exchanges, and that creates very heavy pressure and losses. >> for many insurers the biggest losses have come with the lowest

bertha coombs is in the middle of the action site in times square. bertha? >> that's right, bill. we're seeing weakness particularly with small caps. biotech is off 1%. the big caps are weak as well. the fang names, facebook, amazon, google, and netflix all lower and a few downgrades have really been critical today as far as what we've seen in terms of stocks moving to the downside, hitting names like sba communications which was cut to a neutral from an overweight at jpmorgan following disappointing earnings. jpmorgan cutting seagate f we can bring in that chart. they're among the biggest drags. they're the lowest performers today, biggest losers today. very bc, seagate's ability to play in a merger right now, being much more limited. also chip stocks are lower as well. they said their march 2016 monthly sales increased less than what analysts were looking for, up about 10%. but that's a lot less than we would normally see this time of year. and finally today twitter hitting an all-time low of 1390. three years ago that stock price at $26 and hit an all-time high of merely $75 a

bertha coombs running down some of the biggest losers for us, bertha. >> one of the biggest losers isle as well as nasdaq has come off the lows. take a look at apple trading low. we've gotten a bit of a lift this afternoon as we receive a little bit of buying come in on facebook, amazon, and netflix. the usual fang names have been holding things up, but that move on apple, down for three weeks in a row, is really part of what is causing that downward plunge on the nasdaq. but a small cap here today really helping things out. yelp amove the stocks left for dead. it's seen a huge move after earnings and sales topped expectations. a real relief rally here. the stock is down nearly 50% from its recent highs. biotechs are the week's worst performing sector, down nearly 5% for the week. we've had a lot of disappointment and today the big drag is coming from endopharma. take a look at this chart down off the cliff, sinking to a seven-year low after cutting its year forecast by about 23%, talking about price and pressure. it's oolz also weighed on others. one analyst at ma zoo low calling the

bertha?>> scott, you know, consumers are going to get tlir first chance this week to look at obama care rate requests for next year. they should brace for sticker shock. blaming from rate filings, a lot of requests for double digit percentage increases. washington state and oregon and 30% from the major insurers, 17% in new york. and more than 23% in virginia. part of the reason the government reinsurance program which has helped offset some losses on exchange plans goes away next year. so insurers are trying to mitigate the risk as much as they k one example, they're eliminating the lowest tier bronze plans which the company says will be a 70% increase for insure it's they use them next year. they make are popular but big money losers because of consumers use them to gain the system. >> they end up paying as little as one month's premium on the cheapest plan that they can buy on exchange and then get a host of procedures and services delivered before they disenroll. >> that's bnt big problem

bertha coombs at the nymex today. over the last week and over the last month, carl, we saw oil hit $50 yesterday on the back of that better than expected or more bullish than expected inventory report on wednesday. but we are seeing it fall back $50 is kind of a psychological resistance point not just as far as technical aspects of trading and terms of oil, but the feeling is at $50 you'll get some of those producer here in the u.s. starting to think about coming back online and boosting their production. we've seen 12 straight weeks where production here in the u.s. has fallen, and that's what's made wti nymex crude the best performer in the energy complex this month. we do have gains across the board. today the dollar is providing a little bit of a headwind. and it is the memorial day weekend, the unofficial start of summer. we are seeing the highest prices at the pump as gasoline has moved up. but gasoline ironically has been the smallest gainer in the energy complex this month. nonetheless at the pump according to
