her name is beth david. she was a passenger on the train when it derailed. how are you, sweetheart? >> considering, i'm okay. when it happened it was just like a regular ride. the first moment it felt like it was leaning to the right and then you knew that it wasn't just a sharp turn. >> why? >> everything -- because, i mean everything the car started to turn over on pt side. the car went dark. people and things were -- >> you knew right away? >> i mean like after the initial turn it just kind of -- you just kind of it -- i mean i have no idea how long it actually was -- >> you went to the hospital? >> yeah. >> you're a little rubbed up. >> it wasn't that bad. >> you've got a good lump on the side of your head. they did some tests on you? >> yeah. i'm fine. the thing was is that i was stuck at the bottom -- i was on the third car. so we had to actually climb out the top of the window to get out. there was people next to me a woman was stuck underneath some seats helping another woman out who was there. some people were helping, some people were looking for exits. then we started to

one of the passengers on board that train was beth david, she's in the hospital now. she's with us by phone telling us about what can only be described as a harrowing ordeal. you told me you asked yourself is the train car in which you're traveling began to turn over in the dark of night. the thought that ran through your mind is, is this going to be it? that has got to be what you're thinking. am i about to die? >> yes. i mean you just have a moment. first moment of just you're like suddenly you're just being tossed into your seat. it's dark. and i can taste dirt in my mouth. and keep tumbling. you just don't know. there is a moment of maybe this is it. maybe this is it. >> when you got out of the train what was the exchange between you and others? what where you saying? what were they say something >> like first it was kind of like everyone was trying to figure out how to get out. people were asking for help. because you had to climb out. then it was people asking to jump out of the train. i a lot of my shoes so i had no shoes other people had injured arms or things

. >>> "outfront" tonight, beth david, she survived the amtrak crash, she was sitting in the third cartrain. beth thank you. i know it has been a hard day, it's hard for you to tell this story, you're exhausted. let me start with what our viewers are going to see. you have a black eye. you're injured. >> right, yeah. yeah so i was in the third car. i was the third car back. i mean what i felt my experience i was on a phone call. i hung up. it felt like a normal train ride. then suddenly the car just felt like it was tipping. at first you think it's just a big curve. then it's the moment that you know you're actually falling off the rail. then it's kind of -- it was a molt of blackness as you're being thrown around like a rag doll in the dark. >> that's how it felt was just -- what were you thinking? were you thinking this is it for me? >> yeah. >> were you trying to survive? what went through your head? >> there's nothing you can do in that moment. it was a few seconds that felt like a long time. you could hear pounding. i remember -- pounding in the back of my head. i was like maybe t

guest: well, i also had a chat with a lady called back david -- beth davids.s 35 years old from brooklyn and she was saying that she gave her account of the events and she obviously was shaken up and had some indications of injuries. she had a scratch on her face and a bruise beneath one of her eyes. she was talking about how this appeared to be a completely normal train ride and there was no indication of anything out of ordinary at all. and then all of a sudden, she said everything just went black. she was able to climb out of the train and she took -- she was transported to a local hospital. where she received treatment -- host: what are the officials telling you about who is on the scene, what type of investigation is getting done? guest: we have not had a briefing yet from officials this morning. as you know, there were conference briefings last night by the philadelphia mayor and another that involved pennsylvania governor. we are waiting for an update on that situation from the mayor and other emergency officials. host: the mayor's office between out th
