beth germano is live in lawrence with the story tonight. beth? >> reporter: about 12:30 this morning, route 114 behind me wasn't nearly this busy when the accidents occurred one after the other. a methuen man was killed. now police are looking for the public's help to find the driver who struck him the scene. >> an excellent neighborhood. >> reporter: john breaks down recalling his neighbor, 64- year-old william biccford killed early this morning when he was struck by a car as he rode his motorcycle just after midnight. >> if i needed a hand, he came over to give mae a hand. he was that kind of person. series of events. he struck two vehicles, lost control of his motorcycle and then a car known as a black mercedes struck him and took off. >> you would assume you know when you strike someone. we're not sure. they didn't stop money. >> reporter: run say says his name often rode his motorcycle to work. together what happened here. the male and female pedestrians in their 20s are seriously injured. now john hopes whoever was behind the wheel of the c

beth germano is live with the story in lawrence. beth? >> reporter: it happened at this lawrence family dollar. sunday morning, the little girl was still in her pajamas and her mother faces child endangerment charges. lawrence police say there are two sides to recording and releasing this kind of desperate scene. the video is heartbreaking, a 2- year-old girl crying and pulling at her mother lying unconscious on the floor of a this cell phone video obtained by lawrence police shows the darkest side of drug addiction that officers have seen. >> it's very, very disturbing, you know, to see someone obviously -- just to see the addiction overtake someone to the point where they are not able to take care of their child. >> reporter: leaving police to question whether the little girl, trying to wake her mother, has witnessed this found baggies with residue from fentanyl or heroin and that the 36-year-old likely inhaled it. >> she is likey to be alive and to see someone in the throes of addiction and what they are willing to sacrifice. >> i don'

beth germano is live where paramedics took some of the crash victims. beth? >> reporter: one of the vices remains in fair condition here. it was a crowded vehicle on a long day trip to do a construction job. when the van flipped in merrimac, a survivor tells us not everyone was secure inside. debris strewn highway tells the story of what happened this morning when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled into the median strip on route 495 north in merrimac. 23-year-old jose with -- 23- year-old hose say with an injured arm says a tire blue. he has little memory of what happened next. he speaks through the interpreter. >> he kind of blacked out during the time the van was rolling and came to his senses when they came to a stop. >> repr: others traveling from milford to a home many maine for a roofing job. one person thrown from the vehicle was killed. another later died from his injuries. one of the victims, jose's uncle. he admits not all were wearing seat belts. >> he says the driver had a seat belt on, but the other guys were in the back with no seats

all of this has left a lot of reporting live from releer, i'm beth germano, wbz news. >> on election day, voters will be deciding whether to expand charter schools in massachusetts. tonight, wbz's jon keller has an exclusive look at new results from our wbz umass amherst poll. >> for more than 20 years, public charter schools provided an option for massachusetts families dissatisfied with the conventional public schools. thousands are on the waiting list to get into them. the teacher unions are pouring millions into a campaign to stop question 2 which would allow the state to authorize up to 12 new charter schools each year. the wbz umass amherst poll finds near majority support for lifting the current cap on the number of charter schools. 49% for yes on question two, 39% opposed and 12% undecided. demographics, men, women, all age groups, all educational groups. the only folks opposed to charter schools are democrats and liberals. >> good news for a pro charter campaign that has gained extensive financial backing. presidential races tend to drought largest turnouts of any election.

beth germano has the latest. >> reporter: investigators have been back on the scene here all morning conducting what they call a death investigation. it's unclear how the victim got on to the tracks. the tracks near a y the arena here on the campus. knew something was wrong. mbta investigators were back on the scene this morning trying to determine what happened overnight. a body was fond along thecommuter rail traction and at 11:30 last night a train on the framingham worcester line slowed and stopped. gary barbin was among 20 passengers. >> several minutes went by and the explanation was a medical emergency and then more you know no real explanation. >> reporter: he says the conductor notified passengers of a body on the tracks which is sources tells wbztv it's a boston university freshman. it's unclear how he came in contact with the rails. it's three hours before the train moved as detectives arrived to investigate leaving passengers sympathetic but frustrated. >> and i am thinking, there's a null of us here -- number of us here not that it will be more with 20 plus people includ
