we're on bethel island you're looking at bradford island. this fire started around 1:30 this morning and unfortunately as you look left to right there's a lot of wind fueling the fire. a few more left on their own. there's about 10 to 20 people who have decided to stay, try to protect their property and fight this fire against the advice of the fire department. the fire department has left the scene. they aren't fighting this fire for two reasons. one, bradford island isn't part of a fire protection district. they do not pay for fire protection. two, it is an island and the fire department tells us typically they just let these kind of fires burn. most of the island is undeveloped. the chief tells me there's cattle out here and also pot farms so that could explain why people are staying behind. there's a ferry here, we saw somebody go on there with a trailer presumably to go get some of their animals and bring them back to safety. a couple of structures have been damaged and again, you've got about 10 to 20 people who according to the battal
