more than a year ago may have claimed another victim before dawn today in the parking lot of this bethpage hotel. two men were arrested on drug charges. one a roman catholic priest, robert lubrano. >> he was found in possession of the crack and the pipe which did have crack residue in it. >> reporter: why this priest may have turned to drugs was reveal fld court documents obtained by 4 investigates. they indicate father lubrano told police i've been smoking crack cocaine ever since my sister was murdered. college professor pa trish a ward was killed back in 2014. beheaded police say by her own jumping in front of a train. pi it's kind of horrible. a tragedy event like that can make anybody go down in the hole. >> reporter: donald evans livesary lives near the church where father lubrano sometimes presides at sunday mass. he was or daned in 1985 and has worked at two parishes. but the diocese says lubrano has been on authorized leave for at least five years. meaning he's not assigned to any parish. a diocesan spokesman refused to explain why saying it's a confidential matter. no one answere

police arrested father robert lubrano and his alleged dealer outside a bethpage hotel this morning. lubrano told police he began smoking crack after his sister was killed in 2014, gruesomely murdered by her own son who later killed himself. nassau county police cannot confirm that lubrano's drug use began after his sister's death. he has pleaded not guilty and was released without bail. >>> a popular mexican fast food chain chipotle is the target of a federal investigation. the company must turn over all documents according to an outbreak that sickened employees in a location in simi valley last year. the fda and the u.s. attorney's office are conducting the it all a comes as chipotle reels through an e. coli outbreak spanning nine states in late october that was followed by another norovirus outbreak at a boston location. the spokesman says chipotle intends to fully cooperate. >>> a grocery chain is recalling more than a thousand pounds of chicken because the product was never inspected. the usda found that wegman's changed its production schedule, meaning anything produced last su

— more than a 1,000 people joined a lotto pool in plainview-old bethpage for a chance to win the $1.4 billion powerball jackpot. paying $10 a piece, they believe their odds are greater with more tickets. "we had no idea this would get so much excitement, this is crazy," says coordinator ali kusinitz. it started on facebook with a group of plainview moms who just wanted the community to cash in, but they ended getting a lot of attention. hundreds stood in line in a community park to sign up. "we just figured if we can buy more tickets, the math would be in our favor", says kusinitz. for some this isn t their only way to win, many have joined other pools and purchased individuals tickets. . >> reporter: nassau police were staking out this motel in bethpage this morning on one case when suddenly they stumbled on another. an alleged drug deal between two men but one of them turns out to be a catholic priest. 63-year-old robert lubrano and his alleged drug of choice -- >> a substance believed to be crack cocaine and a silver colored metal pipe with what appeared to be crack cocaine residue was recovered at the scene. >> reporter: what's really disturbing is according to the criminal complaint, lubrano tells police he had been smoking crack ever since his sister was murdered. it was back in october of 2014. 66-year-old patricia ward was decapitated by her own son. her head just left farmingdale in a case almost too gruesome to conceive. >> everyone thought at first it was a halloween prank but it turned out to be a murder. >> reporter: patricia ward's son killed himself shortly after. her son, grappling with psychosis, after the death of yet another family member. meanwhile she was a well liked professor at farmingdale state college but her brother's arrest today a sad example o
