coming from highway patrol officer betsy randolph, our thanks.r reid timmer in el reno, oklahoma, and was swept up amidst the monster storm as it was bearing down earlier this evening. he's still tracking the swirling disaster and paints a vivid picture of the latest in a string of disastrous oklahoma twisters. >> in this you could tell it was going to be a monster supercell. it looked like a pancake, basically, all the ingredients in place for strong tornados. when that happens, the storms are very efficient at producing tornados. it develops a wall cloud, the lowering that hangs down below the base of the storm. started wrapping very rapidly and these suction vortices, miniature tornados that are spinning around like a cell and a multiple vortex tornado started developing very close to the vehicle. violent motion and it turned into a half mile wide tornado. we're driving after it, we have these armored vehicles called the dominators and they dropped to the ground with hydraulics and have spikes that go into the ground. we deployed and had our h

let's go to betsy randolph of oklahoma highway patrol. i would imagine you are all very busy today. >> let me tell you, it has been absolutely chaotic. the storms that touched down were so widespread, they just essentially tracked along i-40. they came through oklahoma city metro area, went south on i-35. we had multiple crashes, multiple overturned vehicles, including semis and trailers. we know a mother and baby were killed tonight as they traveled on interstate 40, a heartbreaking situation. still trying to assess the damage and how many people were effected by the storm. >> i would imagine it is a major concern, not only to get word to people in your state and familiar with days like this, i would imagine it is terrifying in your business knowing people might be driving through and don't know to listen to the weather, don't know what that storm up ahead really is. >> think think it may simply be rain, and as they drive into the storm, if we are unable to stop the traffic on the interstate, and troopers were quick to get there and shut

oklahoma highway patrol trooper betsy randolph joins us now. trooper randolph, what's the situation? what kind of reports are you getting? i just saw one saying there are multiple tractor trailers overturned or vehicles overturned on i-40? >> i'm sorry, say that again? >> trooper randolph, what's the situation on i-40? i understand things are stay standstill and you have multiple vehicles overturned? >> what we do, this stretches from tinker all the way back to el reno, the entire metropolitan area interstate 35 is at a standstill. we are desperately asking people to abandon interstate 40 at this time. the storm is moving east so if you are on interstate 40 east of the oklahoma city metro area, we ask you to get off of the interstate, go south, very far south, even further south than i-240, we're asking folks to get off i-40 at this time. if you're on interstate 35 you're in standstill traffic as well coming into the metro. that's from norman up to the dallas junction or i-40. we ask folks to get off the interstate, please pay attention. the we

thank you, that's trooper betsy randolph. >> we have two dangerous storms here. they are still quite possibly tornado producers. there is one coming into north shawnee, with a tornado warning in effect. we are not forgetting but folks. this area here, shawnee. it is north shawnee right now, moving east southeast. so obu, shawnee, and then from there, we will be talking about over toward earlsborough. but you see the time of arrival there, east southeast at about 28 to 30 miles an hour. that's a strong situation there. tornado warning for pottawatomie county. you want to stay where you are. no doubt about it. the other one also, has a tornado warning on it. cleveland county. this will be west of tribbey and macomb and move toward st. louis. they have power flashes through moore, norman and on the eastern side of lake thunder bird is where it is now. very close to little axe. and it'll travel into central pottawatomie and maybe southern pottawatomi county. so we have one coming into tacomsa, just south of tacomsa. still a lot of large mail. just east of norman. jus
