betty yu got an earful tonight. betty? >> reporter: well liz, this is the problem. neighbors are really upset. this is the grand staircase here at communications hill. there are about three hundred steps so it is a great workout, but homeowners are telling me that it is attracting an unwanted afterhours crowd. a lot of the runners i spoke to and neighbors say they see a lot of bad behavior around here at the late night hours. they see a lot of drug use. littering, people having sex outside making a lot of noise and disturbing the homeowners in this neighborhood. now, this staircase has become very popular in the last year- and-a-half. mostly because of instagram and facebook. people taking pictures of the beautiful view up at the top. but homeowners say especially on weekends, this place is just overrun in the late night hours with people disturbing their peace. they pay about $800,000 for one of these homes that a lot of the runners say they can't even get in a good workout. >> it does bother me because it is like this place, you are taking advantage of it. we are

one woman who tremendously promoted the american fashion industry was betty ford. i think it's important to realize that betty ford's tenure in the white house was relatively short. the fords came in in august of 1974 upon the resignation of richard nixon. ford didn't win a term of his own right, so they were out in 1977. betty ford had been a model. she had worked in the fashion industry in department stores. she had a very innate understanding of what looked good on her and what looked good on others. one of the things that she did that was really important because those of you who are old enough to remember, you will recall that our economy when ford took office was in terrible shape. our interest rates were going from 10% to 11% to 12% to 13%. ford attempted this campaign called win, whip inflation now. it didn't whip inflation but it was his effort. betty ford felt that one of the things she could do is make a fashion statement about how you could look great and not spend a lot of money. so she found a designer by the -- and i hope i get this right. albert cap
