harriet. >> thank you bevan dufty. >> thank you. >> just one question i guess. what is the security like for someone living in the shelter? >> that's an excellent question, and i really think it depends on what your circumstances are. who are you? so if you're someone that has maybe been in the system and knows people you maybe secure but i have many people that will not go into the shelters and people that feel because they're not part of the community in a shelter that they won't be accepted. i didn't have the opportunity to talk about the fact that i have been working with supervisor campos. deloras street services is successful. they have the smaller shelters and because they're smaller from an individual standpoint it's not as daunt to go into them, but deloras street has 57 beds at south van ness and 21st street and an amazing beautiful building. it's sunny and van ness street and many of you know connie ford and part of the labor council. she has her offices there. there is a child care center there and 57 beds and everybody exists together which we need

the mayor also talked about his program to address homelessness but i think bevan dufty really covered that better than any of us could and overall the mayor gave a good speech that was well received by our audience. i will skip over my briefing on the single room occupancy grab bar legislation because i think senior and disability action covered that pretty well. what is coming next with the grab bar legislation it will be going before the board of supervisors for their final hearing on february 26 at which time when it passes, and i expect it to pass because it was unanimously approved at the first hearing. after the board of supervisors make their ruling then it would go to the mayor to be signed, and our office will be providing assistance to the department of building inspection, housing inspection services by developing a technical assistance manual to help the sro hotel owners make a grab bar installation that will be truly safe and secure which can be kind of difficult in these older buildings so we want to give them step by step directions how to do it right. for the last two

there is an interesting program that's being commended by bevan dufty. our city has secured a million dollars in state funding to expand and improve our shelter system such as the one i'm living in at providence. this bayview shelter requires approval by the city planning commission. there will also be an opportunity to participate in that process later this year, he he said, and again there will be a public notice. if approved, there will be a competitive bidding process to designate the shelter operator. i was going to offer a name of a church. i know there are many you know here in the city including st. francis of assissi. i would like to offer up saint john's church and mother brown as a parties -- participant for three reasons. one is the brain trust we allow. also the second reason * of course is the teachings of the prophecy by john of jesus christ. and third, an address [speaker not understood] 66 sixth street. i would like to include -- have i run out of time? >> you have 20 seconds left. >>> thank you. you're part of the contract. god told him
