i've taken supervisor kim's office out and i've taken ex-supervisor bevan dufty's office out. extend that invitation to you all. come out and be a tenderloin street walker for one day and walk with the tenderloin walking tours. second, on thursday i'm running for a open seat on the local homeless coordinating board. so, the supervisors that know me and know my character on the board, i appreciate if they could give me some support for this seat. and if i am afforded the seat, i will give the city of san francisco a wonderful job in promoting more services for the homeless. i've been homeless 15 years myself so i know both ends of the barrel. so, i appreciate any kind of support i can get from the other supervisors. thanks, and again, thanks for that sunday streets. it was awesome. i know supervisor kim, it was in her district, she was out of town for that weekend. her aides why there and a lot of people were here, it was a great time. thanks again. >> thanks, mr. simmer. next speaker. i want to thank former supervisor bevan dufty for his leadership and tremendous work in not only helping homeless throughout the city, but specifically helping veterans. i am proud to introduce this legislation that would encourage and facilitate the use of rooms in existing tourist hotels for this voucher program. again, thank you, supervisor dufty, for your leadership. the next couple of items are very difficult and i'll be honest that i know there are things that happen sometimes in the world that we have, that we play as supervisors that are unexpected. ~ role and there are things that are simply tragic and they touch you in a very real way. the next item that i have is a hearing request that i'm introducing regarding a very tragic incident that happened in my district in holley park. as you know, there was the death of christine vandermere this friday afternoon in holley park where this young mother and 11 month old was killed when she was run over by a maintenance truck from the rec and park department. i certainly was shocked and dismayed and certainly had a number of emotions whe

the first item is an item that i have been working with former supervisor bevan dufty on and it's a hearing request to be held at the neighborhood services and public safety committee on the possibility of co-locating supportive housing in conjunction with the seismic replacement of the city's animal care and control facility. oftentimes individuals with pets or companions, companion animals are reluctant to enter shelters when their service animal is not allowed to live there and is forced to be kept on separate floors. so, i think some of the questions that we'd like to get answers for are whether supportive housing, shelter housing, or hybrid can be developed that enables individuals with companion animals and pets to access homelessness. the fact you have companion animal should not be a barrier for you to no longer have to sleep on the streets. this possibility could also lead to vocational and therapeutic opportunities in such a facility. so, we will be holding a hearing at the neighborhood services committee in the near future. the second item is an item that i'm introducing with res
