's almost 16,000 football fieldings. -- that's almost 16,000 football fields. let's talk about the economic damage. estimates are between $135-150 billion in economic damage. that's all the homes that have burned. in fact, we're at about a 12, 300 structures destroy dod between just eaton and palisades fires. anyone who's ever been through this

matt vent is live on the ground mandeville canyon just west of beverly hills. christina coleman live north of l.a. pete lessard with max gordon these are the very front lines of the palisades fire in the west ridge neighborhood of los angeles pretty see the smoke behind you what's the latest on the ground? >> we are overlooking mandeville canyon right now per this is the palisades of fire right behind me growing to 22600 acres. now at 11% containment part overnight was how this fire begin to grow an increase in fire activity spreading another 1000 acres an an additional amot of fire activity as well later on today. we have quite the air show in the area we had multiple tankers and making drops right behind us here. you can see the pink strip along the ridge line, that's where the air tankers are laying down fire retardant creating a fire break where the fire won't be able to pass. it will hopefully protect the buyers down in the canyon. you can see down there firefighters creating a fire line that demonstrates how steep and rugged this terrain is. these canyons

one of the people who did evacuate yesterday is actor james woods, who was in beverly hills. thank you for joining us. talk to us. what have you seen? >> well, we were literally in the exact epicenter of the fire as it started. um. uh, well, that's actually a view from my from my porch. um, that's the house was on fire. yeah. um, we my neighbor called and he said, uh, a fellow named robert taylor was about five houses up. you have to understand, the palisades is a very, almost like an old fashioned neighborhood. sidewalks. all the neighbors know each other. we all have each other's phone numbers. and people are very aware that we're in a fire zone. and in fact, i had said yesterday, well, day before yesterday to my wife sarah, i said, oh, that guy on the hillside hasn't cut down his grass. they gotta cut down that brush because it's going to be a fire. and that's the person who didn't cut that brush was the person that fire you're looking at right now. that's my pool right there. that was the brush below us that was not cut when. and so we went out. i had a record of the call

same for the malibu hills, beverly hills one side and the hills there. actually 71 miles an hour even closer to the coastline. huntington beach, 51mph. right now. you can see some more wind reports for southern california. the red flag fire warning is in place for all these areas in red, into your wednesday and into your thursday. so unfortunately, this forecast is verifying with those winds picking up, possibly approaching 100 miles an hour for the highest peaks of southern california, and that dry air continues to move in relative humidity right around 8 to 15%. so as we come in closer to a couple of the fire zones right now, we'll show you the current conditions out there and closer to the palisades fire. winds gusting to over 40 miles an hour. it is also very dry. the relative humidity down right around 16%. and of course, the fire that developed this evening out closer to the altadena area, the eaton fire, you can see winds gusting to 47 miles an hour. so the firefight that's happening tonight into tomorrow morning with those real strong winds will
