here is lieutenant colonel bevins moments ago. >> it brought a new level of danger for our people in the field when we knew he obtained a firearm. and so for me, the biggest sense of relief is no one in the community was harmed and no law enforcement officer was harmed either. i believe he was taken by surprise and i believe the canine played a large role if him not being able to utilize that firearm. >> cavalcante did try getting away. he resisted arrest. it didn't work for him and he has been taken into custody after 14 days. his sister is facing deportation after not cooperating with authorities during this investigation. so she is an illegal immigrant as well. cavalcante, of course, an illegal immigrant who came to the united states after being accused of murder in brazil in 2017 and then what he is serving life in prison for is murdering his girlfriend in pennsylvania in 2021. authorities say he did that because she threatened to tell police about the murder in brazil. this is a man who stabbed his girlfriend 38 times in front of her two young children. so thank goodness he is f
