what can pe done to ensure besides just betting on the bicyclist improving. what can be in place to ensure that these pedestrians can be safe? >> that's a design detail that we are working through now. along the corridor we are generally recommending the cycle track to be about seven 7 feet wide and we are suggesting that perhaps the islands to be narrowing to be about 5 feet wide which is single file so we only obvious -- have to worry about one cyclist at that time. and a raised crosswalk. so it starts as a speed hump for a cyclist and insures the island is the same length height and makes it accessible for wheelchair usees and have different ways to signal that this is the area where we would expect pedestrian crossing. we are also looking at strategically locating railing and shelter placements to make sure the cyclist can see pedestrians that are about to cross. >> was there ever a suggestion for having a designated red light, green light, yellow light for bicyclist lane to ensure they do come to a stop. the way they do move, it behoves, it is a transpor

i know that i receive complaints as we have discussed from some bicyclists. and i think that part of the enforcement that your officers has done, has really changed behavior somewhat. so i really do appreciate the enforcement. because then it changes how people drive in an area. and i would like to of course advocate for more. and it just -- it's very noticeable. there was a time a couple of months back there was really aggressive enforcement. and i noticed a great change in how considerate drivers and bicyclists had become as a result of that. i know that the amount of enforcement we have to help throughout the city doesn't always exist. i know it's target and moved around. i want you to know that your efforts are noticed and appreciated. and i want to say keep it up. it would be great to see the numbers in terms of citations. we talked about this as well, and the citations and far exceed the number of cars and comparison of bicyclists. i think you have shown us that data in the past. to have information like that consistently when there is an update. it's h

according to police, the driver of a honda minivan had medical issues, hit a bicyclist and the 31 balboa bus. the bus hit two other cars. the bicyclist and minivan driver were taken to the hospital with injuries, not considered life-threatening. no one aboard the bus was hurt. >>> now to the latest on a large fire that's forced evacuations in yosemite national park. officials say it's now burned 2600 ache up from an estimate of 700 acres this morning. the national park service tweeted new pictures of the fire in the past couple of hours. one dramatic photo shows the fire burning in the little yosemite area on both sides of the merced river. there were some tense moments yesterday as about 100 park visitors had been rescued by helicopter, including some hikers who had climbed half dome. a spokesperson says crews believe everyone in the path of the fire has gotten out safely. >> we weren't sure what the fire behavior was going to do. we knew there were a lot of people in that area and we just wanted to make sure that we were able to get everybody out safely and not put them in a situation

we find that preferred both bicyclist and people walking and driving there is a preference to have bicyclist separated so there is no chaos in trying to share the right-of-way and safer for folks that way. on the pedestrian safety side, the city with again community partners went through an extensive process to understand where a pedestrian collision is happening and why are they happening and what can be done to fix those. we know that about 60 percent of all pedestrian accidents happen on six percent 6 percent of the city's streets. so they are very heavily concentrated and we've done a whole analysis to show the specific engineering types of improvements that can be put into place to make things safer for people trying to move around on the sidewalk or crossing the street. this program, if fully realized would fund those improvements. just in terms of the bond itself, as i mentioned there is a bond on the ballot in november, proposition a. the majority of the funding goes to vechlts -- investments and making muni services more reliable and more accessible and safer for people to access. b
