meteorologist cecily tynan is live in the "action news" big board and cecily you're promising a good weekend. when do we make that transition? >> we will start to as we head through the overnight hours. what's happening, there's a cold front that's pressing to the south. this is the same system that's sparked the tornado warning for berks county. the stormy weather north and west last night. now it's across south jersey and delaware. this the past 15 minutes we've had close to 900 lightning strikes and folks at the jersey shore with dogs, the dogs have been upset all evening 'cause we've had a lot of vicious thunder and lightning. zooming in you can see the heaviest part of the storm has shifted off into the ocean picking up some rotation there. could be a water spout trying to storm. that's a fish storm though. that continues to push to the east. we still have some heavy rain beginning to move towards dennisville. as we go wider there's pockets of heavy rain. the severe weather has moved out. we can flip this over and show you how much rain has fallen this afternoon and we're lookin

meteorologist cecily tynan in for melissa magee, she's live at the action news big board with the fullls. >> it's noise to see peaks of sunshine out there after a very gloomy cool windy and damn saturday. the actual storm system is offshore. we're getting winds a shifting out of the north pulling down drier airs and helping clouds break, there's one thin line of showers starting to break up and stretches across route across middletown, sinking to the south, this is dying as it does, but like i've been say, this was a storm that you all about location. areas north of philadelphia, barely got a drop of rain, but look at this egg harbor new jersey, about seven and a half inches of rain overnight. atlantic city close to six inches, wildwood crest, about five inches, vineland four inches and smyrna delaware, more than three inches of rain and i got lot of photos like on my facebook page, this is from ocean city. this is better than driving through flooded waters, i do want to point out. hopefully she didn't fall in because those waters can be very dirty. and you do want to stay out of them

lets go to david murphy at the big board with details you need to know. >> we talk about getting relief at the beach and you kind of can. but the advisory goes close to the beach and hot and humid on the beach as well. excessive heat warning in effect in the central counties and the advisory is filtering in in the outlying counties and everyone is in potentially dangerous heat and heat index values from 100 to 105. and we have had reading over 100 and over 105 in the advisory areas, everyone across the region needs to stay hydrated and avoid the heat. 92 in philadelphia and 90 in wilmington and 91 in trenton and 84 in allentown and these numbers north and west are going up over 90 as well. 86 in cape may, one of the few spots that may hold the 80s and the dew points are a big part of the story any time you get a dew point of 70 or better, oppressive humidity and down south where the darker shade of green is showing up this is super oppressive. the air you get sometimes down the gulf coast. and 78 is the dew point in dover and flirting with the 80s all morning long. 96 by 2:00, and 97 is
