we have four types of bikes. you need space for yielding cars that are leaving the circle, they have a separate path. traffic lights, they have a face for cyclists the they can make a left-hand turn without going straight and then turning left. it is safe, but the discretion at the traffic light, i saw some here in san francisco. sometimes we make a right turn to go left. it is beneficial that you go on to the right. and across the street. we have traffic lights, and it saves a lot of lives. these are technical things, but what i can say, they prefer tunnels over bridges. as you live in this area, you know is easier to go down and with the speed you get, to go up the hill again. then to go down and break at the bottom of the hill. down first, up with the energy, that is better. they can be socially and save. the parking here, do not forget. they want to go to some destination, to take care that people can park their bicycles there. safe and well fitted space, one thing as a whole. and also important, is maintaini

a reason for using the bike and shopping. we like to go shopping on our bikes. come to that later. and when it comes to gender. who's using the bicycle. i'm told that the netherlands is very typical on this. we have more women on bikes then -- than men. and the most intense users are girls from the age of 12 to 18 and that's easy to explain because i once was a girl of that age and to me, mabika was my ticket to freedom. i didn't want my mom and dad bringing me by car somewhere and then say well, i'll pick you up at 6:00. i go on my bike and i'll try to make it at 6:00. most of the time i was there. 6:30. and then later you can see at all ages, women still use the bicycle more than then -- men, in their 30's to 50's. and how far do they go? still, the girls are top of this list and they use the bicycle for seven kilometers per day. and then you can see that it goes down fast but still, oh, here men are cycling further. so the men that are using the bicycles cycle further than the women and that is explained by the fact that women mostly work near their homes and men commute over a

thank you to the bike makers in the room. we also have great public transit to accommodate bicycles. we also have great routes to get us around the hills. as we showed our dutch friends, most of us know how to get around those hills. the weather is another major difference. this one we have going in our favor. they do not slow down with the snow. with howard gorges temperate climate, we are several steps ahead of the netherlands and where we can go when bicycling. what i learned most of all is what i think many of us already know. when you build it, they come. when the government has done, what the community has done is invested in great bikeways. when you create a dedicated to save space, this man and his kids ride. this woman and her dog variety. this man and his daughters ride. this man and his daughter ride. there is one on the back, you can barely see her foot sticking out. it was difficult to not get photos of multiple children on bikes. three people with kids loaded on the bikes. grandparents picking their kids up from

that is used as a de facto bike lane. but it does not get to the heart of the problem that we're seeing here, that people want separation. what we're proposing is a roadway here where you have a bicycle lanes, the cycle track, along the curb with a three to 6 foot buffer. the new have parked cars shielding that by plane from vehicle traffic in the middle of the roadway. specifically, that buffer is a minimum of 3 feet. but it is larger in certain places, especially where we have blue zones. in some places, the roadway narrows so that parking cannot be maintained on one side. in some places, it actually goes down to the point where you cannot maintain an on either side, especially near transverse, which is relatively far away from some of the high demand parking areas. this is for the existing blousons are. there are 20 full-time blue zones, in addition to the sixth weekend-only bloop zones. we wanted to see if we can move these to better accommodate people's needs. one of the things that came out is it was it clear that p

and joseph also a member of the san francisco biking coalition. i know what it is like to get around on a bicycle in san francisco. this proposal would create a separate area between the cyclists, and the vehicular traffic. this is actually designed to bring more of the metal people that the staff were talking about the like to ride a bicycle but don't uncomfortable --. -- who like to ride a bicycle but don't feel comfortable doing so. there are miles and miles of tracks just like this, where, physically, you have the sidewalk, and then you have the parked cars, the physical barriers to stop -- separate you from vehicular traffic. you have to negotiate the bicyclist, and blessedly, you have a traffic jam or you have to slow down at 3:00 in the afternoon. the users of the separated cycle track can negotiate the space to let others pass, and take the car over to the sidewalk. this should be an easy upgrade to complete and i encourage you to do this. >> good afternoon. and so the director of the art museum of san francisco, i will go into any of the
