bill?w the man has gone through all of this and you think of what he has had to listen to throughout the course of the trial, is today another day like that of devastating testimony? >> reporter: well, what we will hear is when the jury is charged, the judge will go over all of the 17 charges, and, this is expected to take hours, we have been told this morning. there are 46 pages, in the charging document, then there are 200 exhibits, that will be put into the jury room, when they start deliberations, the judge already warned the family to get through this portion of hearing the charging of the jury will take a couple of hours, and he does not expect a verdict today. you know, we have all watched jurors for a very long time, always very hard to predict how long they will take, remember, hayes admitted to most of these charges, but, not all of them and those jurors will have to decide his fate on all 17 over the next few days. bill: laura ingle, thank you, deliberations set there, martha. ma

bill: 9:32 in new york. we're back at the board show though you, give you a better context for the picture we're seeing shape up across the country. yesterday we looked at the balance of power in congress, starting to break down the house and senate and yesterday the senate was in focus, today we're going to take a look at the house and see what is on the line now, what is at stake. at the moments -- at the moment democrats have a clear majority, 254 votes, republicans, now at 181, republicans need 39, 40 seats to get a majority in 25 days. can they do that? if you break down individually the house races across the country, you start to see a picture and image for what we're seeing on behalf of voters. here's what we've done. with so many races across the country, and a lot of times it's difficult to follow because there's so much action, what we have done on the house side is we've taken the states where there are races to watch, all the races to watch on the house side are on the map in yellow. there's a l

i wanted to update you on a couple of high-speed rail bills of note and some other bills of interest. in the transit of arena, there were essentially two bills worth note moving through. let me take a step back first. in the transportation policy arena, after the passage of the gas tax swap back in march, not a lot of heavy duty policy bills were advanced in the wake of that, so there's not a sustainable amount of significant new policy year. speaker perez has a bill, which is on page 26, that would increase violations for weapons possession at transit facilities. this was a very closely watched bill. it did pass the legislature. it is on the governor's desk. the other bill of note, and maybe of interest in the future -- it does not relate directly affect san francisco, although it affects a transit carrier that travels to your city, ac transit -- sb 1830 as an administrative adjudication process in lieu of the process most transit agencies go through, and it streamlines the ability of the transit agency to get to closure on pending violations, minor violations. in addition to adding

a couple of other bills. bills of direct interest to san francisco were authored by a delegation members, including assemblywoman loss. that expanded the definition area for transit builders development districts from a quarter mile to a half mile. a bit more flexibility for the infrastructure development required for those districts. ab2729 from assemblymember ammiano. that was the bill designed to facilitate the use of automatic equipment at octavia four right turns off of market. the governor vetoed that bill. he claims the authority already visit -- exists. the city felt they needed clarification in the bill. i am not sure why that is the basis of the veto. in his view, it was not necessary. last, senate bill 1061 by senator hancock would have added the pedestrian and cross walking project as part of the bridge project. the governor vetoed that bill as well. there are several other bills and i will not go normal subcommittee process. there were not major issues that confronted the big five or the four cau
