i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. what exactly happened in the republic debate. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. there were three central themes last night in las vegas. number one, mitt romney and rick perry don't like each other. number two, all the republic candidates don't like herman cain's 9-9-9 tax plan. number three anderson cooper lost control at a key moment in the debate. let's take them one by one. you may remember that governor rick perry lost some support when he told americans he opposes a border fence with mexico and he supports paying in state college tuition for illegal aliens. mr. perry knows that hurt him. so last night he tried to turn things around by going after mitt romney on the illegal immigrant issue. >> mitt, you lose all of your standing from my perspective because you hired illegals in your home and you knew about it for a year and the idea that you stand here before us and talk about that you are strong on immigration is on its fa

i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. phase two of the occupy wall street protests. america, the police state. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. on tuesday, about 1,000 protesters gathered in oakland, california, and major concerns began to arise. there was a rat problem, vandalism, fights, and fire hazards. medical responders were denied access to the protest site on two occasions. so the city of oakland decided to move the proceed testers and police did that. but later on that day. so occupiers tried to return to the plaza outside city hall. police told them they could not return and violence broke out. at least 200 arrests were made. scores of people injured. including a number of police officers. property was destroyed. and the cops used tear gas and beaten bag -- bean bag rounds to disperse the protesters. howard jordan? >> our job is to protect life and property and make sure that the citizens of oakland are safe. our officers were assaulted with bottles, rock

i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. the republic party on the brink. fox news poll among likely republic primary voters has herman cain in the lead 24-20 over mitt romney with newt gingrich at 12%. rick perry at 10%. the rest of the candidates are in single digits. rise interesting taken from michele bachmann and governor perry as conservatives rally to the biz man's engaging and direct manner. even though herman case number is running nontraditional campaign his popularity is the story of the race thus far. but today the "new york times" reports that cain has just six paid workers in new hampshire and iowa combined. the story goes on to say that his campaign is disorganized in the extreme. be that as it may, there is a stunning difference between the national and state-by-state polling among republicans. according to a cnn/"time" magazine poll in new hampshire romney is at 40%, cain at 13%. south carolina, romney 25, cain 23%. in florida, romney 30%, cain 18%. and in iowa, romney polls a

you've unveiled a new education bill. it would reform the no child left behind requirement that all students be proficient in math and reading by 2014. what does your bill require instead? >> the most important thing about the bill is it to read -- and gets rid of no child left behind. it has not worked and it has been a terrible burden on schools. it replaces it with a focus on the lowest performing schools. in the past, the federal government tried to do everything. cover all the schools. we do not have the resources to do that and it did not work very well. we have made the federal footprint smaller, but more powerful. we will focus on the bottom five%, below is performing schools. and the bottom 5% of the highest achievement gap schools in the country. that is where going to focus our federal intervention. then we said to the states, okay, we will partner with you. you know how the other 95%. here is some accountability standards that need to be mad for title -- met for title 1 money. here are some of the things that
