it is a reminder that when people say, well, you know, you got a bill done or you signed the bill, i want to know, i have to remind people of senator that the governor probably signs bills, law. but it's other folks tragically in alaska. right? i very proudly signed the bill with all the. let's clear. that does not happen. if it is not for folks like delta who pass. unless you have leaders of the chamber going short this happens and got these leaders like my friend see your age results. it not happen without all the lawmakers that we have here today who just make sure that we are putting words down but we're making sure that they being publicly in all of her when they vote yes. that those because takes a certain and if you're a real measure of courage to understand and lift off none of this happens by us none of this happens because a it happens because we have a remarkable servants who who are willing to do the work. and so today here, this really is a beautiful celebration. it's a celebration. but i know, i look around this room and, i see democrats and, i see republicans. i just s

it's important we put points on the board without getting too into the weeds on one bill or two billnd and all all of the specifics of how the sausage is made. these are the discussions that are leading to, as byron donalds said, paralysis of analysis. >> yeah, i think this white house meeting is a big deal for a couple of reasons. one, johnson speaker johnson is wholly reliant on trump to get anything done. he has a razor thin majority, as you noted, but he barely got reelected as speaker. he wouldn't have been reelected as speaker without trump. now, the some of the folks who are attending this meeting, some of the republicans, include chip roy, who's one of the big problems for johnson in the house freedom caucus. these are hard line conservatives. they want trillions of dollars in spending cuts that moderate republicans are going to. it's going to be a problem for the only way they're going to be able to pass this, johnson, is if trump hammers these guys. and that's what's starting to happen today. trump has not waded into this until today. and now today he is getting into this.

in terms of the budget bill, is this going to be one bill or two separate bills?nd i'm told the president did not take sides once again. he said one bill, two bills, i don't care. he wants his agenda to be accomplished. but jim, that is a central question here. he wants to extend and and renew his 2017 tax cut package, as well as many other things. the question of how to pay for it and how to get some of those hard line conservatives on board. of course, he has deep support across the house and the senate, but they do not have a deep track record of governing. so that is the central question. so they're going back to the drawing board tonight. but he is scheduled to meet, i'm told, with senate republicans tomorrow night as he begins another weekend at mar a lago. >> yeah. the debt ceiling looming as well. jeff zeleny at the white house, thank you so much. now to an update from our chief congressional correspondent, manu raju on capitol hill. manu, i wonder what you're hearing from house and senate republicans who took part in that meeting? >> yeah, the house. repu
