covid relief bill is going to be front and center as the house budget committee will try to pull all the components into a single piece of legislation, a heavy lift shall we say. nbc's geoff bennettd post-impeachment trial. i just kind of said, geoff, let's turn the page on this. let's look ahead, look beyond. so give us the look ahead. what can we expect this week? >> well, president biden, yasmin, and it's always great to see you. president biden is going to try to refocus the country's attention on the challenges we face and his plans to address those challenges, and it centers largely on, you guessed it, his nearly $2 trillion covid relief plan. that plan includes money for schools to help them reopen for in-person instruction. there are those direct payments to americans of $1,400. when you add that to the $600 that qualifying americans already received, it's a total of $2,000. and then there's also money in there to extend federal unemployment benefits, and senator chris coons, president biden's long-time friend and ally, senator from delaware, spoke about that on one of the sunday shows. take a look at this. >> president biden has met and met, spoken and spoken with bipart

-brown and one is brown-bennett and i love them both the same even though the order is different. but they've decided to include these bills in his package, dramatic increase to the child tax credit, substantial increase what's called the childless earned income tax, we'll stop taxing people into poverty which is what we're doing to people in this country today. with the passage of the child credit act. we'll cut childhood poverty in the united states of america by almost 50%. we'll cut childhood poverty for latino kids for 60%. for black kids more than 60%. or more than 50%. for kids living in tribes more than 60%. without adding one bureaucrat to the federal government, without creating one more program, just by taking the tax credit $2,000, $3,000, $3600 kid underage six. making it refundable, the poorest people of america who have been left out of this tax credit, 23 or 25 million children now will have the benefit of the tax credit for the first time. mr. president, we will cut childhood poverty in this country by almost 50%. i can't think of anything that we could do that would better recognize the structural nature
