joining me now is assistant director, bill gavin.uck todd she said she was anxious to bring this to a close. hillary clinton wants this investigation over. what information do they want, do they need to shut this up? >> basically, you know, there are two different things to look at here. hillary said she was glad to appear and wanted to appear. politically she had to appear. the problem that i had is she brought a cast of at least a half dozen people with her which isn't a usual thing. in three and a half hours there is no way she has the ability to answer all of the questions that the fbi has. >> but why? given the investigation has been going on for years in three and a half years. at this point they have had to have asked everything. >> absolutely not. if you consider that this case has to go or made very well on recommendation of the bureau going to the justice department and they say have a grand jury this case could go on for a week or more to present the facts. there are a ton of questions. she has to understands a couple of a

also bill gavin is a former assistant fbi director and he joins us as well. , talking about security and about the safety of officers inside of courthouses. that has been in the news lately. and they have beefed up security at courthouses as paul has said. >> paul is certainly right on target. you can't go into a courthouse today -- i know here in boston, you can't get through the front door without going through the security checks, similar to metal detectors and whatnot that they use at the airport. they are a lot more aware of conditions that can't happen. i mean, they train also with the capital police, to realize what they do to keep people that would have evil intentions from coming into their buildings there. so it's a situation that's known to everyone at the courthouses. it depends upon the training, the regional training and how well people do their jobs on these screenings before anybody gets into the building. >> and this says shot outside the courthouse. usually around the buildings, there's very high security around buildings as well. >> that's a

also joining us is bill gavin. fbi say they're livid because this investigation may have been corrupted. what do you hear? what do you know? >> they're absolutely livid and well they should be. you know, when the fbi has responsibility for the protection of the attorney general of the united states, when she's sitting on that plane, those guys didn't just get off that plane to stretch their legs. they got off the plane because they were asked to leave the plane, knowing full -- when she knew full well that bill clinton was coming. that wasn't a casual meeting in an airport. it was a scheduled meeting. and as i understand it occurred on board the plane. they ought to be livid over something like that. everybody says it got a bad optic. it's not just a bad optic. it's horrid judgment on her part. and either conniving or horrid judgment on bill clinton's part as well. >> all right. gary, the last part of the title of your book says, and how they operate. how does bill clinton operate? >> so what i saw of that meeting r

bill gavin, former chief executive for the fbi in new york, miami and denver, he is joining us now by phone. bill, what does your police sense tell you is up here? >> obviously they have received some threat now. the bottom line is that you got to understand and you do understand that these officers are in the middle of a grieving process for the individuals murdered in the course of this horrible incident and at the same time they have to do their job. they must have received a threat. the reason they are having media and civilians moving back are a couple of reasons. one is to protect the media. if in that garage some suspicious package or something put in there, they want to make sure that everybody is safe as they clear the area. the other thing is that they do not want any live transmission of any part of the garage. they don't want the individual to be able to see the police officers, where they are in the garage. there are all kinds of things going on right now and they have to think of all of them and react to each and every one of them. >> i threw out an idea earlier, there m
