you also were one of the co-authors of the bill that brought into existence the director of national intelligence. i'm curious to get your opinion on avril hainesh ones stand out most to you? >> well, she's very well qualified for the position. her confirmation which was overwhelming, 84 to 10, almost everyone on the intelligence committee who voted for her could not come soon enough. our intelligence community is in tatters, acting people, staff that feels pushed out, low morale. what challenges matter? well, you were just talking about a couple of them that i think really matter. i think the challenge of vaccine distribution program really matters. that's not an intel function inside the u.s. but, surely, it's a tool we have, rejoining with our alies with distribution networks around the world that will improve the view of the u.s. which, again, needs improvement. and the other thing you were just talking about was iran. understanding where iran is, not just in terms of nuclear stockpiles but in terms of future capabilities and intentions in the region is crucial before we start a new conversation about rejoining the jcpoa, the iran agreement
