meteorologist bill karins is here. i have to show you these pictures and chris works for nbc and in washington dc and took photos from her hospital. it was a gorgeous scene. no one got hurt but pretty good storms. now the next spot and it's done here just over southern california and it's an upper level low and it does not have any moisture at this time and it's going to move eventually to the southern half of the country and we may spark the showers and storms and now the storm system will start to move to the gulf and as it does that it will pull the moisture up from the gulf at the same time we have a cold front that's coming down and a classic severe set up here and along the frontal boundary we could see the significant weather as we go into wednesday and super cell forms and besttoday. that's not too bad. the temperature in the valleys 70s or 80s. coastal is 60s or 70s. >> looks like we're getting the rumbling with the april showers is this year? >> yeah, we're getting into the heart of the season. you can tell.

let's get the latest now from meteorologist bill karins. we don't like the sound of that bill. >> yeah, multiday severe weather outbreak. up to this point, we haven't had too many tornadoes. two reported yesterday, but very minor, if any damage. now, as far as today goes this is going to be a much bigger outbreak, and then tomorrow we're going to do it all over again. on our scale from marginal to high, high means it's going to be like the worst of the worst. that's a huge severe weather outbreak. we're kind of in the middle here with this orange enhanced area. it includes a lot of big population centers and a lot of little towns in between. so from kansas city to columbia, quincy st. louis, springfield, joplin tulsa, oklahoma city to wichita to topeka, those are all the cities that are in this enhanced area. we don't expect a wide concentration of storms but whatever storms do form can get very strong in a hurry and have the potential to contain tornadoes. the timing of it looks to be about 7:00 p.m. is kind of the peak of it. you can see t
