. >>> bill karins is here. what are we looking at to start the week? >> we're going back to california because that's where the danger is going to be. after a little break in the winds this weekend, the winds are going to kick up today. we have high wind warnings in place for a lot of southern california. 7 million people at risk in this. isolated gusts up to 70 miles per hour. some fires still burning that are going to be fanned by these flames. if any new fires form, they could spread rapidly. the red flag warnings from redding to yosemite. it's very dry. when it's warm, it's dry. low humidity. that's going to be a recipe for disaster. the fire weather outlook does have extreme fire conditions possible if they do form here in this area just inland from the coast. once again, very dangerous weather in the nex twot outheas the carolinas. it's also a little snowy this morning in areas of oklahoma. big travel concerns throughout the south and into the mid-atlantic today with rain and a little bit of snow in the midwest. >> all right, bill. >>> some in th

so with that note, we will transition over to weather, bring in nbc meteorologist bill karins. >> let'seground states. overnight we had one fatality from a tornado in tennessee. this area of rain goes in louisiana up through the tennessee valley and the appalachians. here's our map. this is some of the gubernatorial races. the areas in yellow are the battleground states. let's start where it's going to be raining and snowing. wisconsin is where it's going to be cold enough in the northern portion of the state to see a little bit of a mixture around rice lake. a lot of cities and urban areas will deal with on and off rain today. one of the soggiest this afternoon in connecticut as we go throughout the afternoon hours. people waiting in line, word of advice is go earlier. if you have to wait outside this afternoon, there could be some periods of torrential rain. in georgia, it will get wet everywhere but it's not going to be an all-day rain event like connecticut. we were talking about florida because we're watching those storms heading toward florida. i think florida is going to have a p

. >>> but fist, here is bill karins with a check on the wintry forecast. bill. >> too early for this, mika. we're looking at a december-like forecast in the middle of november. let's get into it. it's already snowing in louisiana this morning and in arkansas. very rare for even december let alone the middle of november. this is just the beginning. winter weather advisories for memphis. st. louis is on a winter storm warning. you'll be plowing tomorrow in areas of st. louis to southern illinois. then it's going to be a sleet and snow mess in the ohio valley and all of this will come up to the northeast. here is the timing of it. the heavy rain today will be in atlanta. airport delays are a good possibility. and then tomorrow morning, we wake up. snowstorm from st. louis through southern illinois. icy mess from cincinnati northwards, columbus to indianapolis. and here it comes in d.c., right around 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. a burst of snow, maybe a quick inch or so and then it turns to sleet and then to rain it washes away. not a high impact for d.c. new yo

but first, bill karins has a check of the forecast. >> people in florida are even complaining about the cold. this is the coldest air of the season for our friends in florida. people in atlanta, your wheelchair windchill in atlanta is 17. there's no snow, no ice or anything like that. just cold. all the snow and ice is all located in northern new england and through western portions of new york state. another couple of inches are possible especially from buffalo southwards. yesterday, you got nailed. some areas got over a foot of snow. we'll continue to watch that additional snowfall, again, not too big of a deal. you win today in dallas. 70 degrees and sunny. we got another big rain storm heading into the west. i don't think it's going to cause too many problems, but this time we're going to get rain into central california today. tomorrow into central los angeles. we had about a month ago fires in the area. we'll have to see if we get any mud and debris flows. we're welcoming all the wet weather in areas of the west. we're living you with a 30 rock christmas tree. should be just about

let's bring in bill karins for a look at conditions facing these firefighters. bill. >> good morning to you, mika. climate change is a huge part of it. this is supposed to be the rainy season in november and california. what the firefighters are saying is it's almost a year-round season now for them. the rainy seen is arriving later and leaving earlier. so for today, another very dangerous day. yesterday was windy, but we didn't have any new fires for them, so that was great. we're going to play that game again today. we have extreme fire conditions possible in the mountains outside of los angeles and san diego. overnight, we've had winds gusting up to 85 miles per hour. let's hope we keep it that way during the day today. still, scary times for all those firefighters and everyone else in that area. in the northeast, it's a mess. heavy rain through northeast and boston. snow is continuing from binghamton, new york, through the northeast. 8:00 a.m., new york city, a miserable morning commute. but noon today, rain is over in new york and philly. still raining in bo
