. >> let's get the weather with bill karins. >> this is going to be a big rainmaker and windmaker.sues and a lot of airport problems. two storms one over the great lakes right now. another one moving through the southeast. there's a ton of rain heading through kentucky, west virginia, now raining in many areas of western portions of virginia. this is all heading to the busy i-95 corridor as we go throughout the day. so as far as the rainfall totals go, looks like 1 to 3 inches that will be widespread. we'll have isolated rainfall up to 4 inches. the heaviest mostly towards the catskills, up towards hudson valley. new york will have its biggest rain event in the ear. d.c. and it's going to rain for a 46-hour period and it's going to be very heavy and windy and overridden and be done. on the back side, the winds will howl. we have two things, one with the airports with the rain. and then tomorrow, with the winds. there are a couple of wind advisories. the winds could gut up to 50 miles per hour. the biggest issue is, still the load of leaves on the trees. what's going to happen with

. >>> first, bill karins with a check on the forecast. bill? >> good morning to you, mika.tatement. yesterday we had 63 locations tie or break record highs. we had over two dozen sites set their all-time warmest october temperatures. this is beyond ridiculous at this point. and today is going to be even hotter. today should be the peak of our october heat wave. 8 0 records are possible throughout much of the southeast, the ohio valley and even locations in the northeast. it's not supposed to be this warm. even new york city this time of year should be around 88 degrees. richmond should be 98. yesterday was 101 in montgomery and we're going to do it again today. we are cooling things off, chances of flooding in central michigan today and these showers will cool off the northeast later on today. so you get the picture here. we are hot from texas all the way through the southeast and yesterday the hottest spot in the country was alabama, numerous areas in the 100s and we should do it again today. for our friends in the south, you'll cool off the beginning of next week. for the

but first, let's go to bill karins with a check on some severe weather. bill. >> good morning. last night during the dallas cowboys/philadelphia eagles game about 15 miles away this tornado dropped from the sky. it's done significant damage. there have been some injuries reported 'not serious injuries and no fatalities, but what a scary scene just north of dallas. this support around university park. and at least four homes have been destroyed. home depot has been destroyed. one elementary school has significant damage and there are at least four schools that have been canceled because of this tornado. so when we get more daylight pictures in, we'll bring them to you. this is what happened in the hit between about 9:00 and 9:15. there's downtown dallas and that's where the tornado was just north of university park. we had severe weather rolling through other areas too. report of one fatality in arkansas where a tree fell on a home and 83 wind damage reports from southern missouri all the way through areas of northern arkansas. what do we have to deal with today? just fine. atla

the ohio democrats joins us straight ahead, but first here's bill karins with a check on the forecast. >> once again, california is the focus of these epic fires that continue to burn it these really dry, hot, windy conditions. yesterday we had two big fires. the tick fire is the one just outside santa clarita just outside of los angeles. this one died down a little bit and now it's flared back up. winds are gusting. the 40 to 50 miles per hour. it just jumped highway 14, the highway is closed now in both directions and there are new mandatory evacuations that are in effect with that fire. the other big blaze yesterday was the kincaid fire. this was further north up in wine country just north of san francisco and north of the napa area. this was one of our nbc photographers trying to get to the heart of the fire. it was moving so fast it jumped highway 148 that they had to stop and turn around. you can see why there. so we continue with the story today. we have extreme fire risk in southern california. these winds are going to gust to 40 to 60 miles per hour starting now and it will g

but first, let's turn to bill karins with a look at severe weather. bill. >> mika, breaking news overnight. the fire conditions in california were very dangerous going into the night and about midnight a new fire has formed. this is near porter ranch, california. it went from 0% containment, which is still at up to 4,500 acres in just the last couple hours. we've had rapid fire growth. we've had over 30,000 people evacuate. i've seen pictures of homes that have been burned and this is not too far away from los angeles, the burbank area, and just to the north thereof up interstate 5. interstate 5 is closed along with highway 118. the fire is just too close by to those areas. and at one point the fire actually jumped interstate 5. i'll show outmaps here. here's downtown los angeles, and this is the burbank area. had is north ridge. this is where the fire is. this is the mandatory evacuation order for the 30,000 people in porter ranch. the fire's burning in this general direction and they're worried about chats worth is the next were, the big next town an

first, let's get bill karins with a look at the forecast. >>> yesterday was relick cue lousily hot. this map shows you every area in red was the hottest area ever record the in month of october, new orleans, jacksonville, washington, d.c., newark, charlotte, noc. how about this, charlotte, noc, hottest day of the year was yesterday, in october. warmer than any summer day. it's cooled off significantly in the northeast, there's light rain to deal with through pennsylvania, new york, it's raining in the great lakes. the temperature change has been dramatic. you need the jacket 'morning. 49 syracuse. new york city at 55. everyone's about 20 degrees cooler as the rain and the clouds have moved in. but not everyone's going to see that. it's still exceptionally hot throughout the south today. atlanta 97 degrees, one of your hottest ever october temperatures is expect today. d.c. does cool off. it's richmond southwards that will stay exceptionally hot. as we head towards the weekend it still stays hot into friday. we go from 90s at least to 80s in that area of the countries. watch out for

but first, let's go to bill karins with a check on the forecast. >> we have a high impact nor'easter coming up the east coast he was go through tomorrow. that's a high impact travel day, d.c., baltimore, philly, new york and boston are the right now it's a heavy rain event through the south. we need it, it's been dry here. it's an umbrella day from louisiana through southern arkansas through mississippi, alabama, georgia, and even into areas of south carolina. what we'll deal with the next 48 hours, eventually this storm will combine with the storm through the great lakes and that's what will come up the east coast. and we're not going to see -- when you say nor'easter people think ice and snow and coastal flooding. this one will be a very strong storm so it will have strong gusty winds with it and heavy rain. it's not cold enough thankfully for snow in almost high areas. so i paused this as 6:00 p.m. wednesday. d.c., you're in the clear. so the worst of it for washington, d.c. is going to be during the day wednesday and getting better as we go through about 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. but tha
