texas governor rick perry. billed as a call for this country to return to, quote, a renewed sense of moral purpose. a christians only rally and that is just one of the things drawing criticism. i want to bring in jim acosta. he is at the houston service. this gathering has been getting a lot of attention because rick perry could possibly run for the white house. let's talk a little about the controversy he's facing. there are some people who don't like this idea of mixing religion and politics. >> that's right. rick perry has no problem mixing religion and politics. he's done it almost throughout his political career. certainly during his time as governor of texas. and it was a couple months ago when he issued an official proclamation from his office as governor of the state of texas. calling for this day of prayer and fasting. what is now known as the response. and he was on this stage earlier this afternoon. it is interesting. tens of thousands of people have come from across the state. probably from across the coun

perry is not about job creation it was the stimulus bill. a lot of defense money. kind of nasa and oil and gas. leslie, do you think that's a really strong message against perry when you are the president of the united states presiding over pretty high unemployment and a lot of consumer angst out there? >> yes, i do laura. because the president is not the one that's held back the jobs. i haven't seen one jobs bill from the republicans that were elected in by the american people who threw so many democrats out because they wanted the economy to improve, which it hasn't. and they wanted to have a decrease in unemployment. more jobs created which have not been. i mean, the president, yes, he is the president of the united states but without the people in the house and the senate doing their job for their constituents that they promised when they were elected, you know, he can't take a pen and sign air. >> laura: he doesn't have any influence over the process as president of the united states, the strongest economy in the world? >> he has an influence over the process,

and you know for all his many charms, rick perry is not known as an ideas man. >> well, bill, when youear jeb bush start talking about let's deal with policy, not the crazy talk, don't blame president obama and everything, is that an attack at rick perry suddenly since he is seemingly getting traction with gop primary? voters at least those polls? or is it him trying to appeal for them to be more civil? what do you think he's doing here? >> first of all, jeb bush is the smartest of the bush family. we just got the wrong one for president. but i think jeb bush is actually right, it is not directed so much against rick perry as it is against the entire field. i'm not sure if the republicans will listen to him, but what jeb bush saying is that this whole tactic and they practiced for the last three years, they put forth nothing on jobs, nothing on economy, nothing on energy, nothing on education, nothing on immigration, they are just the party of no against everything obama is for. you just talked about libya, a perfect example. what bush is saying, that's not enough. you can't just be ag
