after disappointing results, bill richardson too grew a beard.o, fred thompson, people expected him to run away with the nomination and he did too, but as soon as he dropped off, boom, beard. it's just not a very presidential look. then, just last week, 2012 vice presidential nominee, paul ryan, arrived in congress, and he told us all we needed to know with an adorable hipster length junior beard. when he sat out of the race, it was redundant. the beard was all of the announcement that anyone needed. but one multiply failed presidential candidate, who survived the beards, who has never grown a beard that we know of is mitt romney. it seemed like he was making it very clear after his last loss in 2012. he never did the beard thing. it seemed like he was not going to run he was asked by the "new york times" if he would consider running again after failing to get the nomination once in 2008, and failing in the general election of 2012, he responded to the new york times, and i quote, "oh no, no no no, no, no, no no no." if you're counting, that is n

joining me now is bill richardson. thank you very much for joining us. what do you make of his offer? do you think he's serious? does he have something to gain now? zbl>> well i don't know if it's serious. it's so inconsistent. he's so unpredictable. it's a good move. the key to any kind of lessening of tensions in the peninsula is toxic between north and south korea. look what he did the sony hacking. he released three american prisoners without many conditions. so it's inconsistency and unpredictability unpredictability. the summit meeting in itself is significant. there hasn't been one in many years. we have to watch and see what happens. i wouldn't put a lot of stalk in north korea making many concessions like regime change or north-south unification with south korea. >> you talked about that summit that hasn't happened in many years. it was in 2000 when it took place. do you think kim jong-un may be following in his father's footsteps who held that summit in 2002? >> yes, i think he wants to do that. he has been the victim of a lot of bad press. a l

ambassador to the united nations and former new mexico governor bill richardson.ernor, good to see you. >> thank you, jose nice to be with you. >> you signed a letter in support of the new policy last week before the talks. given what you heard from assistant secretary jacobson do you think the united states is doing the right thing on this? >> i believe we are doing the right thing. assistant secretary jacobson is very competent, knows the region. i recently worked with her on marine andrew tahmooressi getting out of jail in mexico. i think she's being realistic. what she's saying is this is a step by step process, and the toughest arena, jose is human rights treatment of dissidents in cuba opening the internet. i negotiated with the cubans they're tough on this issue. used to get upset when i negotiate release of prisoners with fidel castro. i would meet dissidents they would get terribly upset, they would cancel meetings they would whine as they have done this time. so it is a step by step process. but i think the biggest advantage to this policy is it helps in

this conversation with more on the latest cyber security breaches former new mexico governor bill richardson is joining us right here in new york city. how are you? >> nice to be with you. >> what are we supposed to make of all of this? vandalism or cyber terrorism? >> it's a combination of both. this is serious even though the hacking didn't go into national security didn't two into security breaches classified information. the fact that it's happening so extensively and vastly means that we have to get a cyber security policy in place. we need to get our allies dramatically involved. beneed to find ways to get the arab states the muslim states to cooperate too because this is getting out of control. >> are you surprised there hasn't been a larger breach or do you look at edward snowden to say that's the breach of all breaches so hacking a twitter account is nothing. >> no i'm worried this is more expensive. we have to find a way to balance this technology with our security needs. i don't totally agree with joe but i think he's on a good side. what we have to pro vent is the cyber breaching
