officer, bill stanton. thanks for joining us. you're author of a book, prepared, not scared. staying safe in an unsafe world. crime is hitting the races across the country, bill. in pennsylvania, the senate race between dr. oz and democrat john fetterman the gop is now digging into john fetterman's past, when he was chair of the board of pardons in pennsylvania, he wanted to quote, get as many criminals out of prison as he could to give prisoners second chances. now we have locals in philadelphia saying you know, this is a state which defunded police. like living in a war zone right now, living with rising crime there. what is your take on crime hitting elections right now? >> well, you know, the hypocrites are coming home to roost. while i'm all for rehabilitation, recidivism is going through the roof. when you have activist judges, activist prosecutors, and activist politicians where it is about defunding the police any cop worth his salt knew this would happen when this thing first started. when the people that will be paying the most are the ones that are working hard and

liz: joining us now is retired nypd officer bill stanton. that's a dreadful story. acked and assaulted and cops getting attacked in new york. fire fighters now are getting assaulted in seattle. at least 40 attacks in just four months. i mean, the union there is demanding seattle -- the city take action. what's your take on this story? >> well, my take is, liz, this is simple, if all politics don't have respect for law enforcement and our first responders, what makes you think the perpetrators will? they're taking the lead from our so-called leaders and they're attacking law enforcement so if they're willing to attack first responders, what makes you think they'll hesitate to attack john q citizen? it's just an overall head shake on everything. liz: yeah, to your point democrats like new york governor kathy hochul focused on salespeople like inmates being called incarcerated persons? that's her fuscous and not saying why she's letting felons be released on no cash bail for manslaughters, assaults and robberies and the media is always full on focused on trump. business

that's welcome retired officer bill stanton. first of all, thank you for protecting new york.get behind law enforcement. don't look to prosecute cops for doing their job. taking legal lawful action. what they are doing is disenfranchising police. they knew when this first started that it would end up like this and it is only getting worse, not better. >> it is not an easy fix. talking about more than a year of rhetoric of defunding the police, police officers need to be investigated. the fix will not be that fast either, right? >> you are absolutely right. this has been a long rollout. demonizing police. where you have prosecutors becoming effective defense attorneys for the perpetrator and prosecuting the witnesses. the cops are made to be in fear to do their job where they are fighting. they are not only fighting for their lives as bystanders now do not help them, but they help the bad guy. they are fighting for their careers. they are fighting going to jail. now the cop does not want to get out of the patrol car. the cop makes this a paycheck no matter what. when you tell a

bill stanton is a former nypd officer and prepared not scared author.this guy, obviously he has already robbed you of the money and then he jumps over and he is starts going after things on the counter. maybe is he going after you is this justified, this stabbing? >> oh, absolutely. you see him say take the money, go. and then they jump over. you don't know what he has. they have committed robbery and now he articulated he was in fear for his life. and your audience is collectively shaking your head what's going on? and with the theme of this -- your show today, with selective prosecution, the bad guys watch the news and read the papers just like the good guys. and they know that if they run or they fight the cops, there is a better chance than not they are going to get out. that's a shame. >> jesse: interesting, the foot pursuits. so those things often end up with someone getting hurt but if you flee, maybe you have a better chance or maybe someone records it and leaks the footage and it maybe looks like you are the victim of police request misconduct.
