birgfeld went missing in 2007. her body wasn't discovered until six years later. lester jones is charged with first degree murder and kidnapping. on the stand today an expert witness for his defense team testified there should be real doubts about the prosecution's case. >> reporter: we have heard weeks of witness testimony in this murder trial. the defense detective they paid to look into this entire case. >> all the police reporting and the reports made centered very heavily around mr. jones. >> reporter: natasha powers has a paycheck jones' defense team. her testimony, powerful. chipping away and raising questions about this entire case. >> with the initial lead investigator, it was shoddy at best. >> reporter: powers says she reviewed the entire case file and testified today there were major missteps made. mainly the sheriff's office focusing so much of their -- so much of their investigation solely on lester jones while evidence was missed, she says, that could livingston. mr. livingston who did have that appointment with paige between 9:00 and 10:00, why not
