several other bishops now have said they agree. it is a split among catholic bishops on this. and also i think related a reading in "the washington post" this morning, there is the highest ranking priest yet brought to trial for the sexual abuse of all of these altar boys and priests. this is up in philadelphia. this is a monsignor. he testified yesterday that he was told by the cardinal that he couldn't reveal the names of priests who had been accused of molesting kids. and they were moved to other parishes. they were -- the cardinal would not permit anybody to tell members of the next parish why they were suddenly getting a priest moved from another parish when the guy was moved because he was molesting little boys. he's moved over to another parish. what does he do in the next parish? >> priests are protecting the children. >> bill: this scandal is still unresolved and still going on and then the bishops, instead of dealing with this are attacking barack obama. >> the conservatives are all over teacher's unions because they say the unions are protecting the teachers instead

and we just heard it, you know, from bishop jackson, to bishop jackson, you mentioned, you're worried about the sanctity of marriage as a result of opening marriage to gay people. >> and i don't think that genuine -- if they really wanted sanctity or everyone to have rights, what about polygamy? what about bigamy? what about my muslim brothers? it's a very narrow group that's getting theirs, perhaps at the expense of everyone else's. >> but -- so then the argument is, you know, why is it that, you know, gay people who may be wanting to do the most conservative thing, which is to get married, how would that jeopardize the sanctity of the marriage between a man and a woman, just because gay people want to marry? >> it's all an redefinition. why doesn't a civil union work and other things? what i'm looking at right now is the community all across the board, where marriage has been trashed, look at the kardashians, look at all kinds of people around the culture, and you'll find that what we're having is a lack of definition about roles in marriage, men, with women, husband and wife, the r

the ranks about what the best legal strategy is and a lot of people, a lot of bishops, or some bishops, think that this was a big premature. >> the fury of the opposition and the breadth of it suggest that the administration might have miscalculated when they presented this in the first place. do you see that? >> well, the first policy, the first iteration of this policy, got very widespread disapproval from a lot of catholics and we've heard that inside the administration there were people saying, warning the administration that this would not be popular. now, more people, more catholics have approved this, the compromise that the obama administration tried to work out but there are some suggestions that maybe they weren't prepared for this and that the religious outreach wasn't what it should have been in order to figure out how to maneuver this. >> quickly, you agree? >> yeah, and a lot of catholic bishops said that they were basically blindsided by this. they were never consulted beforehand and say hey this is what we're planning to do, what do you think, can we find something that

the orthodox bishops joined their joys with the conference of catholic bishops and called upon orthodox christians to contact their representatives in the face of this threat to the church's conscience. they go on to write in this ruling by health and human services, religious hospitals, education institutions and other organization will be required to pay for the full cost of contraceptives including some abortion inducing drugs and sterilizations for their employees regardless of their religious convictions of the employers. the first amendment of the u.s. constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion. this freedom is transgressesed when a religious institution is required to pay for contraceptive services, include ago abortion inducing drugs and directly violate their religious convictions. providing such services should not be regarded as mandated medical care. we, the assembly of canonical orthodox bishops call on hhs, secretary sebelius and the obama administration to rescind this unjust ruling and to respect the religious freedom guaranteed all americans by the first amen
