bisi onile-ere has that story. >> reporter: aer to iffic scene in detroit as police responded to theoting death of this 3 year old. according to police, walker's 11 year old playmate took a gun from his father's closet, went outside, and climbed into a car with the toddler, and shot him in the face. on wednesday the unidentified 11 year old was charged with man slighter. the prosecutor said in a statement: the boy was charged as juvenile, though, so if convicted he will not serve the 15-year maximum sentence. instead he would be held only until the age of 19. how to treat children who kill is a controversial question. every state allows juveniles to be tried as adults under some circumstances. some even require the prosecution of murder take place in adult courts, meaning adult sentences for convicted children. in 2001 in florida, a 12 year old became the youngest person ever sentenced to life in prison without parole, convicted of murdering a 6 year old play mate. he said he has been imitating wrestling moves on the girl when she suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries. in

bosey joins us, and bisi, how are automakers reacting to what's going in global markets? >> reporter: well, i can tell you, tony, it has been really quiet on this end. when auto sales in china began to dip earlier this year, the automakers began curbing production in china. and because of this, gm is expected to take a big hit amongst detroit's big three, but there are other companies that could face similar challenges in china. market turmoil in china's financial market is having a direct impact on detroit's big three automakers, because china is the biggest automaker in the world. and detroit is a big player in the chinese market. john taylor, a professor at wayne state university in detroit said that there were signs of an economic slowdown in the world's largest auto market weeks ago. >> everybody knows that the world's economy doesn't grow without slowdowns and climbs, and that would be true in china too. >> general motors he sells more cars in china than in the u.s. gm claims that 14% of the chinese market, ford is smaller at 4%. and fiat chrysler automobiles hold j

bisi, how common is workplace violence? >> reporter: tony, workplace violence say very serious problem. every injury hundreds of people are killed on the job. this afternoon, i had the opportunity to speak with a labor attorney who says that workplace violence is an issue that every company should evaluate. september 24th, 2014, joe, a recently fired ups employee, guns down two employees before killing himself. the next day in oklahoma, alton nolan, after being suspended, returns to the von food processing plant where he works, beheads an employee and stabs another. alison parker and news photographer, adam ward, carried out by a former coworker, one with a history of incidents that led to his firing. >> eventually, after many incidents of his anger coming to the fore, we fired him and he did not take that well, and we had to call the police to escort him from the building. >> reporter: tw two hundred cases of workplace violence are reported every year according to osha. according to the bureau and statistics, workplace kil

as bisi onile-ere reports, some residents say they are still being left in the dark. >> i'm bisi onile-ere. about two years ago, nearly 40% of all detroit street lights were broken, leaving thousands of residents in the dark. for long time residents, mike mark, the lack which street lights made his community a bleeding ground for crime. some resident feared walking the streets after dark. as detroit was working to emerge from bankruptcy a few years ago, the city created a public lighting authority. with the help of bonds embarked on a $185 million project to repair and lee place 88,000 street lights. so far, the city is ahead of schedule. >> what impact does that have on a community when the lights around working? >> i always say to folks all the times that street lights is not about just sticks and light bulbs. it's about sense of place, a sense of purpose, a sense of safety. it obviously did not have a good impact from that at that particular time point. >> detroit's lighting authority says the new street lights are critical to the city's turnaround, but not everyone is pleased with the
