the uh-60 blackhawk helicopter took off from destin, florida. the four army national guard members were based out of hannan, louisiana. the seven marines were special operations in north carolina. this is the kind of chopper that we're talking about, a uh-60 blackhawk helicopter. file video of the same kind of chopper here. last night's crash happened over the gulf of mexico. officials say most of the 11 crew members have now been recovered. as you likely know, it will be a very long time to determine the official cause of this crash. but as of right now, officials say there was heavy fog and a low ceiling at the time of the crash. however, we also checked with nbc's weather channel, which reports that at the time of the crash, it was cloudy with light wind and fog developing, but that visibility was fine. no rain, no thunderstorms. about six hours after the crash, the u.s. coast guard discovered the debris field, inchluding th tail rotor. most of the crew members have been recovered. there was a second blackhawk helicopter that was on the same

all 11 service members aboard an army blackhawk chopper that went down in the waters off the florida panhandle are presumed dead. search and rescue efforts got underway last night after the helicopter crashed after a routine training exercise. let's go to joe johns. what more can you tell us? >> reporter: well carol. this was some type of training mission involving the marines special operations unit from camp lejeune in north carolina. it's a black hawk helicopter that apparently went down. the aircraft assigned to the the hammond, louisiana, national guard. they were participating in a training mission overnight. the soldiers on board with the national guard as well. that helicopter was reported missing about 8:30 last night, the first debris from the chopper was located by a search and rescue team. around 2:00 in the morning. now this is still being described as a search and rescue operation, but as you said all people on board are presumed dead. so we haven't heard any official reclassification of that search and rescue effort. nonetheless, it's clear that the military doesn't th

seven marines and four soldiers were on board the blackhawk helicopter when it went down during a training mission. family members have identified two of the victims as marcus baywall of michigan and kerry kemp of wisconsin. both men were marines. and developing right now, more than 20 people are hurt and a major interstate is shut down after a tour bus flipped over. this happened along i-65 in southern indiana. the bus was carrying the indiana institute of technology men and women's bowling teams. several ambulances and helicopters were called to scene. so far no word of the extent of the injuries. vdot's push to widen interstate 66 is putting some home owners in the crosshairs. jeff goldberg joins us live with the move that took dozens of people by surprise. >> the plan to widen 666 outside of the beltway has been on the table since last summer but home owners say it was only within the last week they were told that the project could require them to move. today in fairfax, vdot leaders discussing the benefit of the plan but some of those home owners are not on board. the idea of widening
