maria: and the manufacturing part of the economy, the numbers are going to be out momentarily and blake bermand the numbers raw right now, blake. >> maria, brace yourself. this was a major miss all across the board. nonfarm payrolls rose just 142,000 in september. 142,000. the unemployment rate though stayed with it at 5.1%. as far as revisions go, in august, a month that's normally revised upwards it was revised downwards, 37,000 jobs in august, july, downwards, 22,000 jobs over the last two months and those were revised downward and revised 59,000 jobs. as for areas that actually gained employment health services, was looked at the bright spot. 12,000 jobs as well, but mining, once again, an area that we looked forward to, to give us some sort of an indicator as far as energy goes, that paired jobs down 10,000. the labor participation rate, maria, dropped down to 62.4, that was the lowest level and we had to ask the economists about this a couple of times just to make sure we were correct on this. lowest level since october of 1977. as far as the wages go, lost a cent. the work week dropped
