olivia: this is "bloomberg surveillance." grew just 7% in the first quarter, staying in line with analyst estimates, but the slowest rate since the financial crisis. former u.s. secretary treasurer hank paulson has just released a new book dealing with china. the book details why it is so important to have a relationship with what he says is the world's largest economy. we are joined now by peter cook chief washington correspondent. he spoke to paulson. what was your take away? peter: he does talk about the problems with the chinese economy and the fact that the double-digit road we seen in the past is not going -- growth we've seen in the past is not going to continue and that china needs to make changes to its economy going forward. he says he has cautious optimism that the folks we deal with on a regular basis -- he traveled to china all the time even though he's no longer the treasury secretary -- and he's confident that they have the tools and the will to make the changes, but it's what to be difficult. here is paulson a
