originally it was in the area around van ness avenue where the emporium is now or more accurately, bloomingdale's, and it was a high school and a college, st. ignatius secondary school. the church was finished about 1914 and then shortly thereafter administrative buildings and the campus moved up there in the 1920s and around the same time lone mountain was built and that was the san francisco college for women. and both of those predate ewing, the ewing terrace because ewing terrace was for one year the baseball field for the san francisco professional baseball team, the seals and the missions. and unfortunately, shades of candlestick, the fog and wind through there, they only lasted one year and then they moved to the mission district and then later on to seal stadium. so, it appears that both of the campuses on the hilltop would predate any of the houses on ewing terrace, but that has nothing to do with the impacts. it's still important to analyze the impacts. but, yeah. and also i think pete rozell long-time nfl commissioner, usf, i'm not sure if he was a graduate but he was part of the staff

three people stole thousands of dollars worth of handbags from the bloomingdale's on the mag mile. two women and a man grabbed several high-end handbags and escaped in a white s-u-v yesterday afternoon. the bags are worth six thousand dollars. no arrests have been made. a ton of road salt was stolen from far northwest suburban woodstock. now, the city's head of street maintenance is being charged as the thief. dale behm was arrested friday. he made bail saturday. police say behm made off with a pile of salt and two snowplow skid plates. he's charged with theft of government property... and he's been suspended with pay until his trial. a winter storm hit the east coast bringing freezing rain, snow and near-record cold temperatures. the storm dumped four inches of snow in washington d-c, shutting down schools and government offices. icy roads in virginia were blamed for at least one death yesterday. and there were at least four weather-related traffic deaths in texas, oklahoma and tennessee over the weekend. freeze warnings were in place from the canadian border into texas. and heavy
