so putting these buses in the middle of geary blvd. some people have heard me say this, this is why i'm motivated to say this. i have seen people fall out and into a gutter. i have stopped my vehicle and assisted the person that have fallen into the gutter. then i will have people honking their horn as i help the people out of the gutter. as i have literally picked someone up from the gutter, this is why i'm opposed to this project. unless you see that, you don't think of it. >> we have other people. >> this is really important. please respect that. there is not a lot of people who would be affected by this who are not able to be here today. two or three lanes of traffic in each direction that people with disabilities or elders or people that be blind would have to cross is putting people at severe risk. furthermore if a person gets off a munis vehicle and falls out of their wheelchair you know you are going to have these three lanes of traffic coming at them and the person is extremely vulnerable at these intersections. for these reas

our improvements include a new pedestrian crossing of the geary blvd at by -- buchanan to facilitate a bus stop that we are planning at buchannon. moving to the masonic area where the geary street encountered the great separated intersection where geary goes in an under pass underneath masonic avenue, there too we are recommended side bus lanes at this point. we think having the bus lanes at the side on those service roads allow us to provide a surface stop which provides a very strong access and for safety and security and as well as a smooth transfer to the 43 masonic which crosses geary at that location. we had an additional alternative that would have operated the bus in the under pass which would have -- necessity taetd a stop and while waiting for the bus as a personal security issue. we are responding to that feedback and we are choosing a side bus lane in that area so we can have a surface stop with the better pedestrian security and safety issues. just looking at the stretch between fillmore and masonic for a little bit, as we look at that stretch, we notice there is not muc

concentrated and tenderloin and soma which shouldn't be a surprise, but we see an increase on gary blvd and some of the locations on the southeast part of the city. here is left turn and signal intersection. you can see in the downtown core this is one of the no. 1 issues that we have to address if we are serious about making our streets safer. so there are a number of theories about why left turns are so fatal. when the motorist is at fault is because they were turning and left turns out perform right turns about 3-1. why is that? one reason is that as you are executing a left turn in a car you are doing a very sophisticated aversion in your head, about 20 percent of the time, the driver is not checking to see if the pedestrian is getting off the curb and they are distracted and they miss that and another idea is the design of the car obstructs exactly where the pedestrian is standing and detracts where the pedestrian would be. we don't really know exactly why. maybe there is some car design issues, maybe it's a human factor issue. but we know that separating, turning vehicles and peop

sunset blvd this is one all the way to golden gate park. this is both sides of sunset and big interest in the community, a lot of opportunity protect, it's a lot of blocks. lincoln way to -- so currently in our analysis supervisor tang has been assisting us with the public. we had a meeting with our public manager and katie tang gave a presentation. rain gardens and there is a water enterprise benefit as well because we are doing fixes to the irrigation system which the water enterprise is paying for. holloway green streets. we have been meeting there with coffee talks and we'll be getting into construction of summer of 2015 of bulb outs. planters and pavements. it's what residents have been supportive. things like safety, lighting, some support from the bicycle coalition, our partner here is dpw as well as mta. we are looking at two separate areas. one is just adjacent to mcler and park and one is a church and we are looking to getting this going by july 15th as well. this is rain gardens and ultimate irrigation. baker beach project is kin
