what we are seeing here is hundreds of teachers, parents and students rallying against what they see as unfair budgeting by the fairfax county board of supervisors. the budget was unveiled this morning. certainly charged. >> it is music like this that could be silenced due to budget cuts according to the teacher and the parents in fairfax county. precious crabtree says decrease funding could lead to scuts in staffing and programs like the arts. >> if we start to make cuts to the programs we won't have the students ready for the 21st century. >> today county executive ed long presenting $4 billion budget next year. he says the slow economy resulted in a shortfall leading long to request a 4% property tax increase. >> there are unmet needs and investment. >> school funding tops the list. the county is proposing a 3% increase of $55 million and the nearly 7% boost of $122 million. >> make no mistake. this is increase to the school budget but not meeting their needs. jeff: school director says the fairfax board should not be blamed for the problems created by the general assembly in richmond. >> they have an obligation to meet funding in education a

of a malfunctioning phone system. today, people living in johnson county will get the chance to hear details about the county's budget. the board of supervisors did approve a budget for the 20-17 fiscal year. county leaders will go over the details for the public in a hearing today. it starts at 5-30 this street, suite 201 in iowa city. a cedar falls elementary school is holding an open house tomorrow in hopes of showing why it needs a bond referendum to pass. north cedar elementary school also plans to have an open house on march 31st. according to the waterloo cedar falls courier, the school hopes voters will pass a $32 million dollar bond referendum on april 5th. administrators say they need to build a new elementary school to fit the growing district.. homeowners whose property has an assessed value of $150,000 would pay just over $100 more each year if this vote passes. this comes as the latest bond question to cedar falls voters after 18 months of campaigning for school improvements. in late 2014, voters soundly rejected a $118 million bond vote that would have paid for a new high school plus elementary buildings. last june, a majority

where the board would have a say in terms of how the park parks and recreation is spending its dollars down. that being said, i know this department has to come to the board of supervisors first budget every year. so, i hope we remember this conversation the commitment we made here today. i did as an example, our open space acquisition fund, which whose purpose is to find properties or serve high needs areas or open space division areas. since this fund has initiated we have spent it down for only two parks, both in neighborhoods that are not open space deficient or have actually are neighborhoods with highest open space per resident . why support requiring more over open space whether we can get it in these two cases with an opportunity to buy open space they were readily available and we should do it, i am concerned that we put forth these principles are saying that we believe in equity, that we want to buy more open space or approve open space, in districts without enough open space. the district i represent have the fewest and smallest part we don't often spend on the dollars the way we endeavor to. so, while i will be supporting this as i did i know incredible amount of work we
