the boardwalk is 46. gaithersburg 43. 30's of western maryland but still above freezing. as this is pulling away, it is very likely some of the ridge tops and west-facing mountains may pick up a little snow. here is the satellite image showing the most significant clouds and moisture over us now. things begin to thin out when you get out into ohio and parts of kentucky. there is the front that is coming through. you have to wait for this to move through the area before we are done with this. things moving along rapidly. a high pressure in the atlantic gives way -- the big area of high pressure will give us a couple of days of relief before a system that will be developing down in the south leads in the weekend. all the real cold temperatures shifted from eastern to western canada and down into the western part of the u.s. our temperatures at least for the time being have warmed up a little bit. this old stuff will be getting a little closer to us, perhaps, by the end of the weekend. our future cast shows by 7:00 this evening, the bulk of the rain will be through the area.
