bob?. >> thank you, george. as many of you are aware the federal reserve has just released a week or so ago detailed information on many of its financial rescue programs. this was not a voluntary release of information but actually a release that was mandated by requirements under the new dodd-frank acts. the information covers trillions of dollars of loans and over 21,000 individual transactions. a very voluminous set of information this is mandated the release of information. the thing about the data it really suggests how wide-ranging and deep the federal reserve's lindhing programs and financial support actually was. it surprised many people about both the breadth and depth of the programs. and in particular who received the funding. it was quite surprising to see the amount of loans and funds that were channeled not only to the foreign subsidiaries of foreign banks but also to foreign governments in some cases and other entities as well, both foreign and domestic. the fed not only engaged in loan purchase -

and we've heard about that a little more from bob. but this is not all that bob has argued. this is a glimpse of it, and what he's done is connect the dots between the levels so that one can see you are dealing with a hoistic problem even if parties don't have holistic solutions yet. what shall we make of this contribution? well, i'm not sure sometimes in the second reading, third reading whether to rejoice or to lament. i rejoice because he's done this expose of the deep roots of the conflicts, and that is a contribution to our moral and intellectual history. but i lament there are some unanswered questions, bob, and i'm going to ask you about this. when you come to your punchline that you're in favor of libertarian environmentalism, well, what does that mean? what is the role of government in libertarian environmentalism? i presume it means maximum freedom with grassroots care for the habitat. i'm all in favor of that. is that all you mean? that could be just a social adjustment that would try to deepen that. but you may have more in mind, and is it possible that you're wr

my dad took my brother's bob and charlie and me to bob feller day at old cleveland municipal stadium. in i believe 1957. and i -- and my dad loved bob feller. i mean, he was a legend in cleveland. his statue is the only professional athlete statue in cleveland. and right outside jacob field. on jacob's field on east 9th street, you can see bob feller's statue with his famous windup. and when you go to an indians game in -- in the new ballpark, progressive field -- new, it's now more than 15 years old -- when you go to the ballpark, people always say, i'll meet you at the bob feller statue. that's sort of the place where you meet up with your friends and get your tickets and all of that. so he brought great joy to so many, like my father. he was perhaps the greatest pitcher that ever lived. and he died at the age of 92 in gates mill, survived by his wife anne, his children steve, martin and bruce. and i was proud to have gotten to speak a number of times with bob feller. i don't pretend to have known him well but he was always a major presence in cleveland baseball and a major presence
