bob: my pleasure. s talk about the bronx. bob: i grew up in the bronx. i was captain of my baseball team, starting halfback of the football team and valedictorian. gary: your father was a lawyer. bob: he was a postal worker in the depression. and :00 in the morning, -- 9:00 in the morning, we would go out and play stickball. anthony: talk about sports and the influence of sports growing up. bob: it teaches you rejection. you think you are the greatest and you start expanding. you learn quickly that there are you strike out with the bases loaded. you are the number two halfback and it teaches you how to work hard and basically, sports are a major influence in my life. i majored in mathematical statistics and learned a lot in college and concentrated on my academics. i went on to law school. anthony: you were a good student in college. bob: i made time between going to the library and i was ready to party at 6:00 at night. habits. bob: this include, i read the lecture. i made a wide use of time . time. i went to the library and study mathematical statistic

bob said they went to dinner at a local restaurant. when they got home, sherry spoke with her sister-in-law. >> mrs. durall appeared perhaps slightly tipsy and told her that she was going to bed and that her husband, robert durall, had made her a drink. >> sherry's sister-in-law told police that she was very suspicious because bob seldom served his wife. usually, it was the other way around. >> they said that it was extraordinarily atypical for mr. durall to ever make his wife a drink of any kind or to serve her any kind of food or drink. >> and sherry's best friend had one final insight. it was a dream she had about sherry the night before she disappeared. >> i woke my husband up like at 12:30, 1:00 in the morning, and i said, oh, i had the worst dream about blood everywhere and couldn't get back to sleep. and i feel like that was a message being passed to me, like, do something with this, you know? imagine - she won't have to remember passwords. or obsess about security. she'll log in with her smile. he'll have his very own personal

bob opposed war. wilson inor woodrow 1916 even though he was a republican, he voted for him has he believed in wilson's pledge to keep the united states out of the war. in april of 1917, woodrow wilson asked congress to declare war on germany. he was one of -- only six senators to oppose the war. he was concerned that only munitions makers, profiteers with benefits from the, that the people would suffer through the loss of loved ones in the military. he was concerned that the government was not telling the people the hurt -- full cost of the war. his concern was the oppression of civil liberties. in 1917, congress passed the espionage act. that bill had nothing to do it espionage. it was not about spying, it was about suppressing opposition to the war. newspapers could be shut down, and were shut down as a result. people were jailed for their criticism of the war. believed that the bill of rights was not repealed because the united states is at war. september 20th, 1917 was a critical turning point fo

bob, i think bob is a farmer at heart just like his father was. one of bob saenz is there is no better maneuver than the footprints of the owner. so, every weekend since we have been married, almost 40 years we have gone up to fishkill farms and bob has gone around pruning the trees, examining the apples, getting depressed if it was a bad crop or if we had a freeze, and getting a lady if the crop, like it is this year, bountiful. our son joshua, who is 31 has just taken over fishkill farms and he has made it into an organic enterprise. he has been using clay to spray the apples instead of pesticides, he is growing organic vegetables, he has has free range chickens that produce really delicious eggs. stop by, sometime we we have a huge farm store. there is pick your own every month, we have newly ripened berries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, then in august, even in july we have the apple crop beginning, and then there are pick your own people who come and spend the day and have picnics and pics bags of apples. so it's really part of bob'

bob did k speak for himself. go ahead, bob. >> i can. you're talking about forward historic, historical what's really happened we know, and what's really happened, it's expensive. and if you want to argue that future refresh your recollection going to be fantastic, explain to me why all of the projections are that revenues are going to be falling throughout all of the s&p. you can't say seriously you really expect revenue profits to zoom up when revenues are falling. so i look at the combination of high pric price to earnings ratios. i look at this falling revenues, not growing, but falling for the s&p and i say whoa there's no rush here. if you've got cash on the sideline, you know, personal i'm going to let it sit there for a while, if the market falls further, i have an even better buying opportunity. deirdre: bob. >> well, you know, i think that the -- yes, have we had a bad quarter for the s&p 500? absolutely. and our projections not the greatest looking out over the near term. i would absolutely agree with that. at the same time, t

bob: well, i think it matters. if you look at what interest rates had been in the recovery, they've been dead flat. they have tried to take the argument, well, the first rate hike doesn't really matter. on the other hand, the first rate hike is an acknowledge we are in a new regime and in this new regime the fed will start raising rates. once they start they could start raising rates rather rapidly. they've given some forward guidance on rates sometimes we call the dots. if you look at these dots, which are points on a graph to tell you when fed members think the fed will raise rates points to different things in the future. it shows a relatively rapid rise in the fund rate. yes, i think it does make a difference. markus: what will the impact be for the rest of the world, if any, whenever the fed starts raising interest rates? bob: well, the i.m.f. has warned the fed not to do it. that's another problem that federal reserve has two conditions for hiking rates. the two conditions aren't met and yet the fed seems to

bob mcnamara, bring over. i want my staff to be full of people who come from the government, that understand how government works. when you're at the white house, you only would know that at 11:00 at night when you got home and you turn on the television, the most magical thing that ever happened, i worked on that during the day. there it is on live television at 11:00 at night. it was astounding what you did during the day for those 10 hours you were devoted to moving legislation through. just one last item on that legislation. pause i want everybody to remember this. when the democrats got that big majority, as mark said, the problem with the ways and means committee was always 15-10. mills would sit there and gnarl and say i'm not going to get this through. and lbj said the more democrats that come in, you have to change the composition of the ways and means committee. instead of being at 15/10, you have to move it around to be able to get that vote. mccormick said, i don't think i could do that. about 24 h

but i'll mention one quick story if i may, bob.ilber mills, we talked about the very powerful chairman of the wayes and means committee to mark itself legendary and stood in the way of medicare like the ama for so long made the bill stronger. lbj had never seen this. and when someone came to him and said, mr. president, chairman mills is actually strengthened the medicare bill, president johnson said, well, i'm going to get my brother. and they said why so, mr. president? he said there's an old joke about a fellow in my home city of johnson city, texas. and he was interviewing for a job as a switch operator on the railroads. and the fellow interviewing him said, well, what would happen if you saw two trains coming together and the threat of a collision was occurring? he said i'd get my brother. and the guy says, what do you mean? he said, well, my brother has never seen a train wreck before. and he said, i have never seen a bill get stronger after being in committee. >> i just want to make a comment about that picture with presiden

bob: thank you for having us on. is some great activity happening about how aol is fitting in verizon. -- in with for eisen. verizon was one of our largest -- in with verizon. verizon was one of our largest customers and they realized the value we created from creating customer segments, so they decided to combine our assets and create a wholly-owned division under the verizon entity. we operate with the same strategy and guidelines we had with aol, but there are assets verizon has given us to build the new next-generation media company. the strategy we had at aol it is only reinforced by the acquisition. emily: how are you incorporating verizon's user data and how is verizon changing now that you are here? bob: the most important asset we brought to the party was our automated media buying stack. at verizon, we are allowed to use part of the verizon data as long as the consumer has opted into permission to use this data. what we can do with that data, it is very interesting. we can serve a great, great consumer expe

but the headline clearly senator bob menendez will vote against this deal.t this means, david, going forward. right now 21 democrats have voted or said they will vote for the deal when it comes in front of congress, 21 senate democrats next month. two say they oppose it. menendez today, chuck schumer earlier this month or late last month as well. the number here in the senate is 13. if republicans and, every single republican in the senate is expected to vote against this, if republicans can recruit 13 democrats over to their side, then that would be enough to override a presidential veto and essentially kill this deal. so right now, in the senate, for democrats, 46 democrats. they are basically at halfway point. 23 said what they're going so do. now we watch the other 23 to see what they are going to do. they would need, republicans would need 11 of those 23 senate democrats to come on to their side to kill this dial. menendez today right now makes it two. david: by the way we had a graphic up saying 20 were in favor. actually went one democratic senators b
