i'm bob abernethy. it's good to have you with us. as the senate judiciary committee began debate on immigration legislation this week, many religious groups intensified their ongoing calls for comprehensive reform. evangelical leaders, who have lobbied for new immigration policy, launched a prayer campaign urging congress to pass a law in 92 days, which they said reflects the number of times the word "immigrant" appears in the old testament. but some of those same leaders warned they would oppose the bill if it includes amendments th wou expand imgratn rights for gay and lesbian partners. >>> the u.s. catholics bishops are ramping up their opposition to same-sex marriage, as the number of states recognizing it continues to grow. delaware this week became the 11th state to legalize same-sex marriage. in a new church bulletin insert that will be given to catholics around the country, the bishops urge prayer for the protection of "traditional marriage." >>> the dalai lama began a six-city u.s. tour by stro

i'm bob abernethy. it's good to have you with us. amid the continuing investigation into the boston marathon bombing, president obama this week spoke of the threat of self-radicalized individuals here in the u.s. and the difficulty of identifying them. he said his counterteorism team has discussed ways it can engage communities where such radicalization can occur. in recent years, american muslim groups have launched their own efforts to combat extremism. for more on this, i'm joined by our managing editor kim lawton and haris tarin. he directs the washington office of the muslim public affairs council. haris, welcome. the president referred to self-radicalizing. how does that work and what can the muslim community do to prevent it? >> well, the phenomenon of self-radicalization is where individuals who do not find a place in mainstream muslim institutions, places like mosques, and organizations, they don't find a place for their fiery rhetoric, for their violent extremist rhetoric, so they go online an

i'm bob abernethy. it's good to have you with us. some conservative christian groups said they were among those targeted by the irs, amid the growing controversy over reports the agency discriminated against politically conservative groups. franklin graham, son of billy graham, said his relief organization, samaritans purse and the billy graham evangelistic association were both audited after the association sponsored newspaper ads opposing gay marriage. graham called the irs action morally wrong and unethical. but the groups did not lose their tax exempt status. the founder of focus of the family, james dobson, said he also faced discrimination when he sought tax exempt status for a new ministry. his request was also eventually granted. >>> a breakthrough in cloning human embryos is raising new ethical concerns. employing the same technique used to clone animals, scientists at oregon health and science university for the first time were able to remove stem cells from a cloned human embryo. those cells could be used to treat certain
