bob barnard live on the scene. he joins us on the phone with the very latest. bob, what have you been able to find out so far? >> reporter: well, shawn and maureen dead tonight are a couple and their two children, a boy who's in high school, a girl who is in elementary school found dead inside their home on this contour road right off the historic part of mt. airy by a family friend about 5:40 this afternoon. according to maryland state police, this friend came to check on his friends in their home, hadn't heard from them in a few days. and when he went around back after not getting a response from his knock on the front door, went around back, saw in a back window that someone was dead on the floor. he called 911. the first responders got here, went into the house, discovered four people dead, a man and a woman and their two children and then when they discovered they were dead and that there was no other threat in the house, they backed out and it took another four hours, not till 9:40 tonight till investigators were able to come back with a search warrant and
